Only thing I've found that helps them go away is to take it easy. No riding, no lifting and no straining. Lots of fiber and lots of water. It will pass and pass fairly quickly if you don't irritate it.

I couldn't really help with Hemorroids, but I have had 2 Peri-anal Fistulas .. and after the surgery, I have scarring. I recommend a very soft comfortable seat, and keeping the area clean ...

Less caffeine, alcohol, more water, fruit, veggies, fiber in general. Exercise is generally good, biking too, if they are not so bad as to stop you.

Otherwise, see your doctor.

News flash folks - Most people whom I know who have/had this problem were not always 50 plus year olds. They were in their 30s, 40s even a 25 year old.

Back to you: no straining at the toilet, adequate amount of fiber in your diet, plenty of water, Tucks, Preparation H, stool softener if needed.

If it's a chronic problem then plan to see a doctor to get those little beauties taken care of.

I don't know about riding since sitting is usually bad enough at times. I'd probably wait until you're a tad more comfortable.

Thx for all the help.

Just thought I'd add; I'm under 50, I only eat brown bread, eat plenty of fibre, eat fruit/veg everyday, have very little dairy. Maybe I didn't drink enough last Sunday when I completed my first 100 mile cycle. Almost twice my previous best distance. It was a real struggle, I dug deep but did I dig too deep?

Yesterday morning I woke up pleased at my accomplishment but when I went for my shower I discovered I had what I suspect was a Hemroid! that wasn't there when I showered after the ride.

Could the effort on the bike have caused/contributed to the them?

Thx 10 wheels "Butt they still hurt the same way"

And I'd rather be picked up for my spelling that picked up by my hemroids!!

Thx in advance

Maybe they have good memories and can advise on a course of action.

An old remedy which my football manager told me about, and it works a treat. Teaspoon full of honey in the morning and before you go to bed. Sort you out in 3 days, you will never have them again.

WOW!!!! That's an accomplish. Congratulations on your first 100 miles. If I did even 50 miles I'd be on life support.

Hhhhmmmmm. Having a little surprise like that after your shower must have been a little alarming but it may be a common side effect after a long ride. However, you may have had hemorrhoids all along and the long ride just brought them out - literally. Under the circumstances I'd see my doctor for better management.

Cool. I have a jar of honey just crystallizing in the refridge. Now I can put it for another use besides making honey corn muffins.

As for the rest of you poor/sloppy spellers, I have two words for you -- "spell check".

In the far right hand corner of your reply box is an icon labeled "abc" with a check symbol under it. If you're not aware of it already, you can use this tool to check your spelling. It only takes a second to use and it's painless.

Of course it doesn't check grammar. You'll have to eyeball that yourself and do the best you can. However, this is not school. No points will be taken off your final grade. Some slack will be given if you're obviously distracted, plain stupid or you have freaking hemorrhoids after cycling way too long.

I'm wondering if it is Hemorrhoids, or an abrasion? As far as spelling goes, I leave that up to Firefox.

Take the honey with a grain of salt. Oh! Never mind......don't want to spoil the placebo effect. Forget I said it.

These might help when you are suffering:

Is it possible you could have a saddle sore instead of a hemorrhoid?

To get rid of the current bunch, someone suggested I try a couple of miles over cobbles without the saddle!!
