convertible soft-shell jacket?

I’m looking for a soft-shell jacket that the sleeves zip off. I’ve had the super thin nylon style in the past, but am looking more for a soft-shell type material.

Two jackets I’ve found online, none of my LBS(s) carry these jackets, are the Endura Convert Softshell Jacket and Sugoi Men's RS 120 Convertible Jacket. I’ve also tried on Gore’s Winstopper but found that very tight. While I will use this jacket mainly for road biking I am not fond of super tight fitting race style clothing. It would also be nice to use it as a cross country ski jacket.

Hoping someone can offer some insight on these two jackets or add suggestions for other soft-shell convertible jackets to look at?

thanks, Jeff

Louis Garneau makes one. I'm not sure of the model name or part number of it. Sleeves zip off, and the back is held in place by magnets. I've had mine for three or four years, and it has worn well. Blocks the wind as it should. No problems with it. I'll get another one as needed and if LG still makes it.

Gore Phantom 2. Soft shell. Fully breathable back (very important to vent sweat and prevent inflating). Zip-off sleeves....

thanks for the suggestions. yes I had tried Gore's Winstopper, but I felt the design of the jacket was too tight for my comfort, especially if I need to add a layer or two during the colder rides.

thanks again,

Jeff

Gore Windstopper is a fabric, not a jacket. Gore makes many different jackets with different fits that run from super thin race fit to relatively loose fits. The Phantom 2 falls more toward slim than baggy, but most find it has room for a couple of layers, like a base-layer of some sort (e.g. thin long sleeve jersey) and a long sleeve thermal jersey. For spirited riding most find this good down to 32F or so.

sorry about that miscommunication, yes I meant Gore's Phantom. I even tried on an XL and there seems to be a weird design cut to the jacket with my shoulders because even in the store with the larger version it didn't feel comfortable as in very uncomfortable. the design seems almost like it would only feel ok if I was bent over on a bike but not standing around at a water stop. However on today's ride I noticed a few riders sporting them so some must like them

Gore makes the Alp-X that is a soft shell with removable sleeves. Sizes to xxl, did you look at the size chart? sizing on cycling clothes is all over the place. Also some companies design the clothes to be comfortable when in the cycling position.
