Did you ride today?

10/2...brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 30 cold and blistery miles. It was actually a nice ride though once I warmed up. Ducked into the parks and looked at the leaves changing color. The leaves with the dark clouds really drove home the point that summer is done...

Anyways, today was the hardest ride I've ever done. I went slow. It was impossibly hard. In fact, I had to stay in the small ring most of the time.
35.39 miles for just under 2 hours. Base training is going to suck.

Cool, just missed eachother.
I realized soemthing on one of my numerous zone-outs today; even if I had a CX bike, I wouldn't be racing it. I've had a long season. I need a break, and cyclocross would only disrupt that break.

10/3- 48 miles with Dan(leinad) and Gary (garysol1)- they got more mileage riding to the meet-up spot.
After the 30 second debate whether to go armwarmerless or not I made the right decision to wear them, and we were off. Gary already agitated by a flat on his front tire on the way to the ride, decided to test his tube-changing skills again when a nice piece of HOLE took out his rear.
We ate at the international house of pancakes ( minus the 'house of pancakes'), and devoured a reuben, giant stack of pancakes, and some french toast. After getting back outside, it became apparent to us that it was infact autumn, demonstrated by my turtle crawling back in its shell. It was cold! We made one more stop, and Gary fell in love with the lady at the bike shop.
On the way back we took it easy, and went down some pretty cool roads by the vermillion river.
Dan won a couple sprints, Gary crushed me, and I am now learning its best to befriend these older guys. Dan can save me .55 cents on my next meal when he graduates mid-life and receives his buckeye card!

Scott(nocondorfx) is being generous about the sprints, I won one! The rest where stealth sprints, as in they didn't see the signs, LOL, that way I don't get shut out.
The weather was brisk for 10/3, great company though makes it worth the cold feet!
Two more years and I'll have that buckeye card, then it's party time!!!

My version of the todays ride.....
Met Dan at his house around 10:15. While waiting for him to get ready I was just riding circles in his driveway when I hear a click click click sound. I look down to see a High School letter pin sticking out of my tire. I pull it out hoping the pin is short and did not hit my tube......of course not. Tube #1. Being that I had my Carbones on I had to prep a new spare tube before we left. Prepping a tube for a deep wheel consists of removing the stem adapter from the old tube, Teflon taping the valve stem on the new tube and installing the extender before sticking it in my seat bag. With that done we ventured the 2 miles to meet Scott. There is a small climb just after we leave the parking lot so I figured why wait and put the hammer down. Everyone came along and we were off. Lots of cold head winds greeted us but we held a steady 20-22mph into them trading off pulls. Scott took the longest. So we all had are heads down and were pedaling away whe it happened. I was 3rd wheel and missed the sign move to left ... .Bamm....Hit a pot hole and took out my 2nd tube. Fixed that and we were off again. Had a nice lunch stop in Vermillian OH where we stopped at a LBS for me to get and prep another tube. The *****y lady behind the counter acted like we pissed in her lemonaide. What a freaking attitude. Got my tube and I was so mad I forgot about buying a spare CO2. The ride back was uneventful. We had a few yellow sign sprints and I think we all got a few.
In the end my stats were 51.87 miles at just under 20

17+ miles of commuting. Temp was 38F when I left this morning and I had to break out the long sleeve stuff. It was a little much on the way home, which is why riding this time of the year is so screwy. Felt good to ride though

10-4 = done.
did a local bike shop ride. except i thought it would be good idea to ride over to the start. the ride home had me thinking it was not such a good idea .
despite being cold it was calm and really a nice little fall morning for a ride. the group turnout was good, just not fast. i know this, cause when i am the fast one of the group the real studs were clearly sleeping in.
ended up with 55 miles at 19 mph clip. that puts me 21 from 3000. hey, maybe i should start a 3000 club? later.

A nice hard 55 miles, on a route that included as many hills as the ride leader could find. Hard to believe there are that many in Lorain County, and so close to Lake Erie, no less. Not exactly moutains but what they lack in height they make up in steep.
