Burnam Crit Data

For anyone who is curious, here is my data from today's crits. I got flicked otb in the cat 5 race after covering too many attacks at the front, then joined a group and finished about 1 minute or so back of the main pack.

Finished with the pack in the Master's 50+ but just barely. Ended at the front with 1.5 laps to go ... stupid idiot!

I think the Cervelo will have to race tomorrow. The Cannondale was so embarrassed she refuses to go again till I pull my act together.

I think you may have the races mixed up. Cat 5 hardly lasted 52 minutes?

Congrats on finishing in one piece. Double congrats on not getting lapped. Think I got lapped twice in my first crit.

my average speed at joliet today deff outpaced burnham, 21.5 versus 20.4ish. Though those pulls at the front limited what little sprint i had drastically...top speed today of 31.5 today versus 39.6 yesterday

Here are my Joliet numbers. Finished 13 in the CAT 5's and similar in the Masters 50+. Reasonably happy with my performance. About the same effort in the 5's as in Beloit. Worked a little harder in the masters but pretty close also. Really fun and nice and safe. Still concerned about my weak right leg power imbalance. Don't think I'll ever have much chance of winning anything, but at least I can compete.

I didn't see any one else out there, so it must have been.

Having that race on the car track was a great idea.

How anyone can ride down there on anything less than a Pugsley is beyond me.

This was on my Google recommended route!

Is this the Autobahn?

John,
Blame the Centerpoint idiots for ruining some of the roads like the one pictured on Patterson Rd. or any other near the site. They are building another intermodel site like the one in Elwood a few miles south of there which I think is definitely not needed. They have ruined the roads between Elwood and the south part of Joliet to where they're not real suitable to bikes anymore. Hopefully they'll fix them back up after the Centerpoint site is all finished. The only good way to get from Joliet to Elwood is taking Brandon Rd. across the Desplaines River bridge (think rehab work on the bridge is due this yr. or next)
, past the narrow RR underpass, up the hill to first road on right, then right on Patterson Rd. where you'll have a great view of the quarries. Continue south to Millsdale, left to Brandon Rd., then right. Continue south across Manhattan / Arsenal Rd. where road becomes Chicago Ave. and take it down past the park and the school (on right) to Mississippi Ave. There's a small park on NE corner. There is a very small downtown area about a block east of Chicago Ave. going towards 53.

It was brutal out there. Great venue for a bike race, though. Loved the fast corners.

Slim... I think we're going to be close on the omnium. Will be interesting to see how it's scored.

Well.. that makes me feel good for the season. Since I felt quite fine in the 4's until I started a misguided attack on the start/finish line to be spit out the back just about a 1/4 lap later after turn 1

I got 5th on Saturday and 2nd yesterday. Somebody said the Omnium scoring went 25 deep with 25 points for first and 1 point less for each spot thereafter. If that's the case, you will win and I'd be second by a point.

Not that I was really focused on the Omnium... until I finished second, anyway.

Upgrade already, will ya!
