Carbon Frame Hybrid

I was wondering if anyone knew which companies make a carbon frame hybrid?

I am thinking of upgrading my current hybrid, want something lighter but don't want to get into a road bike.

Thanks.

Giant is a really huge factory ... Go find a Giant dealer shop if you want one.

Merida Is also Huge. multi brands , out of Both..

Fitness bikes is another Hybrid Niche .. in Italy Campagnolo made a Fitness group , for that market Niche.

Shimano had one too Just they didn't think the US was where they would sell, so look at Shimano Australia.

Look at Cyclocross competition Bikes and have a drop to flat bar swap done by the retail Shop. ..

Great question. My research tells me that a carbon hybrid is going to cost between $1,500 and $2,500. So I started wondering if an aluminum bike bike might be just or nearly as light at much lower prices. I like the advice of finding a cross bike and switching it. That's what I'm going to do. Good luck with your search.

Flat bar road bikes are hybrids in my book. You're making an assumption that the OP doesn't want road oriented tires and gearing. I'll make the assumption that he doesn't want drop bars. Maybe he can tell us what he really meant by not wanting to get into a road bike...

Thanks for responding everyone.

I am fused in my lower back so when I ride I like to sit up a bit more vs. your traditional road bike riding position. I would agree that the flat handle bars are more important vs. the tires and the gearing.

In an ideal world I would like everything that a road bike gives (light) with flat handlebars.

Thanks for the clarification. If that's the case then Andrei_R had the 2 best suggestions.

I own the Giant cuz I couldn't pass up the deal at the local bike shop. $1000 for this leftover 2015 model. Weighs 21lbs stock with pedals.

The Specilaized Sirrus Carbon Sport 2017 is $1,300 and has disc brakes. I am strongly considering getting it, just have to test drive it in the next 2 weeks when my lbs gets them in. Only problem is i will need to buy a lock, never had to with my folder

may i ask why you want to upgrade to a carbon frame?

i had a discussion with my LBS and i was looking for a hybrid. based on what i was looking for, i wanted a flatbar handle and use around town with the option of riding with my road buddies @ possibly 20 miles max once in a blue moon. Also with the option of attaching a child seat to ride along with my daughter.

my budget was to go up to $1500-1600 because i didn't know exactly what bikes were going for. we were talking about carbon frame and carbon fork which would put me in that $1500 range but he said he couldn't justify me spending that much on what i wanted to do with it. he recommend me to go with the aluminum frame and carbon fork, so i ended up getting the giant fastroad slr 1 2016 which was $990. he said the carbon frame will be more forgiving in vibration in the longer bike rides (over 20 milers) but since i have a bigger tire, it should be pretty comfortable.

sorry to hijack your thread, just curious in your opinion since my LBS could have sold me the carbon frame and fork but didn't.

I have never had a carbon bike so I can not speak from experience, but it seems to me that carbon may be a bit oversold. I'm guessing the main attribute one is looking for when considering carbon is weight. An aluminum bike with a carbon fork is probably going to weigh a little more, but is it worth the "lot more" in cost? That's your decision of course, but if you're like most people, you make decisions based on value (cost/quality balance).

Yah the difference is like 1 pound.

You better orf loosing weight on your body first.

Bikes: Jamis Coda Elite - custom 1x9 setup

carbon should also give a more comfortable ride vs aluminum depending on the frame

i have an aluminum Giant fastroad which i love but i also have been thinking about a carbon bike, either the fastroad comax which looks almost identical to mine or the new Trek FXS 6 which also looks awesome.

FX S 6 | Trek Bikes

i wonder if a Trek FXS 7 is in the works; of which I would think would be in the $2500 price range.

i would like to see a hybrid/fitness road bike with Ultrega components even if the cost is around $3k

i would not rule out a Specializes Sirrus carbon bike either.

Test drive as many bikes as you can, each will feel a bit different. I bought a Sirrus but test drove the Treks up to the 7.5s, and they were also excellent bikes. Didn't have a Giant or Cannondale on hand to test, but based upon my research only Speclalized offered an all-carbon frame for the Sport's price point, so unless those were absolutely amazing rides, I couldn't see not going with the Sirrus. Again, ride as many as you can, across all different road types, and see which gives you the best ride - most comfortable, easiest to handle, etc.

I have an aluminum hybrid with 700x28 tires and a carbon road bike. The road bike soaks up the sharp bumps better but small and medium bumps are about the same. IMO tire size/type/pressure has the biggest effect on comfort. And, I'm only about 5 minutes faster on a 20 mile ride on the road bike.

Specialized recently posted their new carbon Crosstrails that appears to have replaced the E5 alum framed ones from last year.

Bikes: Volagi Viaje (rando/gravel/tour), Cannondale Slice 4 (tri/TT), Motobecane Fantom PLUS X9 (plus tires MTB)

This is getting really spendy, but for an extremely comfortable carbon flat bar road bike, you would be hard pressed to beat this:
Liscio / Flatbar / Shimano XT | Volagi Cycles

I have back problems too, and the Volagi design does a great job of keeping the road chatter out of the seat post.
Also these bikes are very flexible for tires size; for an extra soft ride you can get bigger tires all the way up to 47mm.
