I guess that's better. It means we are still "game", just that the hunting license cost more..... I should be patient as much progress is being made but it's kinda getting old.
My dad lost his license on the spot a few years back when he caused a crash. The crash(no injuries) while minor still allowed the police to take his license. We had been trying to take his license for a few months prior to his accident. He was in his mid 80s when this occurred. If you mention mandatory license testing for over 75 or so the old folks scream age discrimination.

I've seen articles about senior citizens that are competent drivers don't really mind the testing as that it makes the road safer for anyone. I'm not speaking from experience or anything... Heck my 83 year old grandmother just drives around without a liscense. :trainwreck:

Yeah, I've always been bothered by this logical inconsistency. I will freely admit to busting the speed limits on interstates and limited access highways on a pretty regular basis (although I'm never doing 100 and weaving in and out of lanes of heavy traffic.) And I would not for one second whine about it if I got pulled over -- that self-righteous "But I was just keeping up with traffic!" or "But he was going slower than me //ahem, but still above the speed limit// in the left lane!" crap cuts no ice with me. At all. :rolleyes:

But I am absolutely inflexible about never speeding in neighborhoods, not ever, and not even a little bit. If it says 25, I'm going 25, and the guy behind me can tailgate and honk to his heart's content. The risk of some little kid darting out, or something else unexpected happening, is just too high. Two nights ago, driving home in the dark on the little roads in my neighborhood, twice I was barely able to see people who were out for a stroll, wearing dark clothing. If I had been careening around the turns at 10-15 mph over the speed limit, I could have easily hit and seriously injured one of them. Which, penalty-wise, should be a whole different ball of wax from, say, doing 65 on an empty Route 100 at 11:30 p.m. on a weeknight.

I agree 100% that this would be a more ideal yet liberal way to view speeding or maybe a tolerance based on the percentage of the speed limit (say 10-20%) but instead we have a tolerance that is approaching 15mph (changing 25mph to 40mph and changing a 80% chance of survival for a pedestrian to a 20% chance of survival ) anywhere and everywhere. What happened to the 5mph grace I grew up with, which was only there because of inaccuracies of measuring equipment. Now that we have more accurate measuring devices the tolerance has gone up to 10-15mph???

Intermixing standards for limited access highways with residential and other streets where pedestrians and bicyclists are present has never been good for society.

Hey MD gang- I'm real big on going the speed limit through residential neighborhoods, people fly down my street and it makes my blood boil!

On to more positive human traits. I've got a few bikes that I am looking to get rid of. I am offering all of them up for donations. I'm doing two charity rides, to date, and the money can be donated to either. So the price of the bike is not really a full price as you get a tax break-and you're doing something good.

You don't see Md on my profile because I was able to escape. Although, practically my entire family still resides in Maryland; primarily around the beltway, but also on the eastern shore. Me I don't want anything to do, other than visits, with that state. Too much taxes.

I basically agree. The same can be said about some bike paths, too many unsafely speed on those paths, that's why I stick to the roads.:D

Here in Fl they are trying to pass a law which would allow LEO to ticket drivers that clog the roads by driving in the "fast/passing lane", even if they are driving at the speed limit. The last time they passed this Gov. Jeb Bush vetoed it because he said it punishes law-abiding drivers, which it does. But now we have a new Gov, so they're trying it again.

It's been my observation that you're safer going the speed of the traffic (on the major roadways) than going the speedlimit. Even the cops openly speed. But it's one of my pet peeves not to speed around towns/neighborhoods, regardless of who I'm pissing off.

BTW, I have pissed off cops before that was stuck behind me doing the speedlimit on residential roads...that's some sorry sh*t. It was also in Oxon hill, Md.

Annapolis is a really beautiful town-but too many F----G! cars! They are the dominant feature of most urban and suburban landscapes, but we are conditioned to see that as normal.

I wonder if it is closed due to budget problems. Lots of roadside rest stops have closed due to $$. Sidling Hill rest stop on I-70 is closed and that one is heavily used.

I'll take MD taxes over FLA drivers and "culture" any day. Beautiful there, the gulf, the keys, but M and I have always referred to it as HOT Jersey. As all my old friends in NJ now live in FLA.

Definitely NOT giving up touring. Once I clear these out I will begin shopping for an all around RANDO bike. The Trek never really fit right, bit small, same with the Pista. The Mt bike? I just never rie anymore bought it 12 or so years ago for an ungodly sum. Keeping all my Arkel bags etc.

Yeah I'm not sure if the ranger house was closed due to funding, it looked like it had a new paint job. There was also a ton of trail maintenance goin of the further south I got.

At one point a cop car was driving down the path, other than scaring the sh*t out of me and having to ride on the grass abruptly. It was good to see them out patrolling

Ideally I would get custom, but lots of dough and time. I would go for stock, just want a good fit. I have some hip and back issues, probably doesn't help to be on a wrong sized bike.
Also like the cyclocross idea, but that's down the road.

Any suggestions on moderately priced rando frames. I think I would like to do the build.
