Harry,
I am so upset that I did not ride down to Annapolis. I was wondering if you would be up to writing something I could put up on Baltimore Spokes about why you ride and/or what you got out of the Symposium.

The city is doing some great stuff, that's why that got a lot of awards. It is going to be interesting when we start tackling the police department to be more aware of our issues.

I had an interesting conversation with Stephanie and she said that she was getting some flack from cyclists in the fact that she does not ride anymore. But she does not ride in Maryland because of conditions and she wants to change that. We are in for some interesting times I think.

Hey all: Barry, very nice presentation. I ended missing the symp. I was bummed out. Had to deal w/ parents.
I was to go backcountry skiing this wknd but lack of natural snow kept me home. I went MOM's(store @ Rt 175) and the next thing I knew I road 62 miles. I rode down to Rt32 back up to 175, across to BWI trail, down the B&A trail, and back to C-ville. Nice day especially since it was unexpected.

Harry: Is Pinehurst in Cedarcroft area?

I rode the B&A yesterday and today--cutting volume in prep for the Trade Zone training races starting this coming Sunday (17th). I started from my usual place--Dixon Observation Parking Lot at ~11:30am for both rides. The trail is a great place to hide from the wind; much appreciated today.

I looked for your pink jersey but didn't see it. I was on the trail from 2:30-430ish. I was in an orange Sporthill wind block type shirt. There were lots of neon green bikers, a pair of maroon clad female riders but no pink. Did you wash your jersey that day

I had my pink team thermal jacket on today.

No ride for me today My daughter has been running about 102 with some upset stomach all day, so I spent my time with her watching all manner of stuff (spongebob, Dora, etc).

I am gonna either hit the rollers or the nordictrack tonight instead.

I did get a great ride in yesterday. Not only was it cool that I left while it was snowing (flurries) but my recent glove purchase answered my final question (ok the rest of me is fine, now how can I keep my hands warm?)

Now if I could just get some no fog glasses I'll be set!

Hey -D,

Hope your little one feels better soon. Keep her hydrated and cool.

So, what do you think about that birthday ride into Annapolis we were discussing earlier?

Definitely. The good thing about kids is that they bounce back fast.

As far as the "birthday" ride, I am kinda screwed this year. Every year my wife goes to this womens church retreat which is on the weekend around my birthday. Last year I went down to my parents friday night so that they could watch the kiddies and I could get in a ride.

This year it turns out my parents will be out of town skiing, so this year for my birthday I will be spending the time watching the kids. I will have to check but the following weekend might work instead.

Hey, on another topic. I am gathering from your purchase of the wireless mount and your activity over on the other forum that you are still fairly happy with your ibike? I have been watching a couple on ebay but I am still a little on the fence. It seems to be a pretty good bang for the buck device and probably accurate enough for me. But the Power meter naysayers do a good job of making you second guess the ibike's usefullness.

I'm sure that the bunch who responded wouldn't mind sliding it out a week as long as there's involved.

Actually, the wireless mount is really, really, really great. I would not go back to wired---ever!

The naysayers can say what they want. Unless they've used one for a period of time, they aren't qualified to comment.

I like the PowerTap comparisons that Velocomp posted. I'm sure we'll see more of that with comparisons between iBike, SRM, ERGOMO, and PowerTap.

I guess the real proof, for me, will be my race results. Stay tuned for that.

Bikes: 1 away from divorce!

Hello all,
I'm living in the Eastern Panhandle of WV. I grew up in Md. so I guess I belong in this thread. I do alot of riding around the Sharpsburg and Boonsboro areas. Took the family out yesterday for a nice ride around Antietam Battlefield. It was my 13 year old sons first good road ride. We covered about 10 miles and I think he's hooked. Now the problem is getting my Nishiki back from him..Glad to be part of the thread...Jeff

Hey Jeff! Welcome!

I've done a couple rides with the DC Randonnuers that took us out into the Charles Town area. Nice riding to be had out there.

I am hoping to get out and see some races this year. I may not race myself, but I can take part in my other hobby. (not my camera btw, but pretty close)

Bikes: pacific elite 3.1 w/upgrades and street slicks, got an iron horse maverick now, cannondale sr800, gt gtr pro rival

Well look at that, another bike guy with a canon, I have a rebel Xt w/sigma 17-70 and 50mm 1.8. are you a member on photography-on-the.net also???, I had to choose new bike or a 70-200 F4L, obviously I opted for the bike.

I wanted so much to ride saturday but as my luck has it, I spent my day moving hay and horse stuff as the wife relocated her horse to ellicot city, it sucked so much passing by all the trails and seeing everyone else enjoying the rollings hills (road bikes) and the trails. I was dying to go, I might try to go next saturday AM if anyone is up to it, as far as I know she hasn't made plans for me yet. I'll go if its cold, let me knowif anyone is game.

Josh, what did you have in mind for a ride?

I have to take it easy Saturday, so I'm looking to do some low stress miles.

No, I'm not on that site. Although I frequent dpreview.com

I shoot an aging 10D (soon to be 40D, or the successor to the 5D, can't decide) + battery grip. I have a 17-40L, 50 1.8mkII and the70-200 F4L. I am also considering selling the 70-200 for the IS version (it wasn't out when I bought mine).

So many hobbies, so little money (much less time). My R/C planes and helis have at least a quarter inch of dust on them.

A freebee photobucket account will let you upload 5 minutes of video per clip. If you get the paid account, a clip can be 10 minutes long.

Yes there is some beautiful countryside out here. WV really did'nt make much of a shoulder on most of their roads so some can be pretty hazardous. That's why I ride alot in Md. it seems they are more cyclist friendly.

Ah ha, I *knew* that was you on Saturday, NoRacer! We were both patiently waiting to cross Robinson Road. I was riding my Airborne, and wearing my retina-burning neon-yellow jacket. I remember thinking, hey, yeah, pink BBC kit, blue TCR . . . but by then you had taken off, leaving me in your wake. Sorry I was so brain-dead!
