Finally went for a ride today! I mean a real ride. The past 6 months Ive just been communting to work and running errands etc.
I warmed up on some single trails 5minutes down the road, with a surprise dropoff in the mix. I then moved on to the power-grid road. Bascially a road built to service the powergrid (duh!) its a series of ups and downs that goes on and on for 15 KM (see pic 1). The road soon ended at a 10ft high fence so I turned left and followed a single trail that hugged said fence. I've never rode down here before, but it was awesome! Tons of berms and small drop-offs with smooth landing areas. Really fast riding :) . I popped out of the forest after about 2km and found an....uhh.... "river thingy" and followed that for about 40minutes at a large rate of knots(see pic 2, 3 and 4). I didn't know where I was but I kept following til I got to a unknown sealed road. I metaphorically tossed a coin and decided to go left. Great choice it was to. After riding along a trail on the side of the road, I came to workout where the hell i was! I followed the sealed road now and made my way to "One Tree Hill". I took the walking track up "One Tree Hill". It gets pretty steep and contains a ton of loose rock and tree-roots near the top. I've never ridden up it with cleats before, but today I was feeling stupid enough to give it a shot. I had a moment at the start but I clipped out more naturally then I thought I ever could and so once again I was off. I got to the top without incident :) (see pic 5). I blew down "One Tree Hill" and had a casual ride home through the traffic. Good day :D . The ride took me 3 hours and I traveled roughly 50km. Havent done that in awhile :) http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/2341/bike001no9.jpg 15km of hell on the power grid road http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/5195/bike003zi3.jpg The start of the "river thingy" http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/7721/bike004xn8.jpg The long, boring road to nowhere http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/6010/bike006bv5.jpg Without me knowing, my camera and a flat-topped rock worked together to get this corny shot http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/1130/bike007hi4.jpg One tree Hill walking track. Note: Hill may contain more then one tree Sorry for length, hope youse like! :) |

I knew that question would arise. I had the helmet on during the crash. I took it off after I wrecked in order to be able to enjoy the wonderful sensation of breathing. I think mtnbiker66 may have been holding my helmet. It took me several minutes before I could even find my bike. |
Several minutes, eh? The bike is right next to you. Are you sure you had that helmet on DURING the crash? Sounds kinda fishy if you ask me.

I was messed up for several minutes after the crash. I am almost certain I had the helmet on during the wreck. Then again...maybe mtnbiker66 was wearing two. |
You tossed it to me from your prone position. You had it on.

Seems like everyone's getting jacked up these days. Be safe out there kids.

No, just Hambone. :p
The funny thing is, instead of tending to him, mtnbiker went around shooting pics like the paparazzi!! ("Oh this would be a great shot to post in a thread!!") :roflmao: |

("Oh this would be a great shot to post in a thread!!") :roflmao: Mtnbiker66 acted in a very appropiate fashion. He said, "Are you okay," I mummbled "Yea" and he began to capture the moment for posterity with his camera. Any good riding buddy would have behaved in the same way. I was touched by his thoughtful actions. |
Yeah, nothing like friends. And if he DIDN'T say "are you okay", he knows he would have heard about it here. It was an obligation thing, you know. And then.....BACK TO BUSINESS!!! (snap!)
Anyway, you guys crack me up. |

Last ride I had with my friend where around a curve he took a spill, we both were hitting around 37 mph so he skidded like 20 feet on the dirt ground. First thing I did was bust out the camera and take pics of his gushy bloody shoulder, because I'm a true friend. Wish I could find those pics! |

We want pics, Pheard!!!!

I don't know if I can find them, I had them saved on a disc before we had to backup our computer due to spyware/virus rapage.
When he comes back for christmas I could get some aftermath scars, his knee and shoulder looks like pink ground beef. This was like a year ago too  I feel like such a horrible friend. I was getting about 35, and he was going faster(a few more mph), so then he falls. I couldn't help but laugh. I was struggling to hold in the laughter. The funniest time was when he insisted on trying to ride the crack in pacifica, right before one of the drops he flips and goes over the handlebars into some rocks. It was hilarious. |
Sounds like me in Tahoe when I hit that tree trying to avoid hitting the tree.
|
hmm, reading and watching this posts made me feel tempted in getting some pic of trails around my area, MTB trails in Penang, Malaysia are mostly hikers trail because the forest that we have is reserved. So dont expect a lot of action, anyway could someone tell me how to post your pic instead of using the attachment feature? Because im very sure some of your pics are not 100kb
