I got really lazy, and put off posting a few pics of the sf ride. Basically we did an amazing race in Sf. For those of you who don't know what the amazing race is, its a bunch of clues in order that take you to different places. Every 3-4 clues we finished, we'd get a new set. The race took us to- Treasure island, china town, macys square, coit tower, pacbell park, embarcadero, and various steep streets in sf :D I regret only having taken a few pictures but here they are.

I know it doesn't look really steep, but It was the steepest hill I've ever ridden up. Only me and scotty, the kid in the blue shorts in the pic made it to the top without stopping. 4-5 blocks, at each cross steet it levels out.

well today i ****ed up. Went to jump a wall and cought the the disc brake disc on the wall, scratched my fork, 5 big ones on the frame. bent the rotor. sprined my wrist and cut my arm, pic tomarrow maybe

It's been awhile since I posted a ride report, it's just that I've been giving the Pista alot of attention lately. Have a week of MTBing scheduled between work.

Today:

Trail: Round Valley
Weather: Partly Cloudy, High 72, but really felt like it was in the low 60's with the wind and all.

Total Time: ~ 3 hours
Total Miles: No clue, don't really care.
Eventful happenings: A couple riding with their dog tied to the handlebars. Some dork going down a damn which is off limits goes down hard which results in a broken leg; all done right infront of the park ranger.

Yesterday I went riding, we didn't ride much (mile wise) or too hard but we did have lots of fun, the highlights of the day were probably my friend getting a thumbtack on his tire, now thats bad luck, in a huge forest, from all the trails in a rainy muddy day, my friend rides over a single stray thumbtack, pins it perfectly on the center of his tire, lol his tube was fine but when he tried to pull the tack out the tire would deflate, tough luck. I also dropped a 6 footer (aprox didn't really measure it lol) none of my friends dared try, lol it was a great, additionally we also had lots of fun on a very short section which had a great dirt jump, followed by some natural stairs (read: not manmade) with roots if you would call them that lol and a very nice drop off at the end, we repeated this section like 6 times lol it was great. We are going riding tomorrow too.

P.S: I can't wait to enter a race, downhill or cross country, I just want to compete lol, the worst part of it all yesterday there was a very cool competition event and I didn't know about it until yesterday, bummer, the next race is in August...

today me and mtbmel road the quarry road trail. Way more technical and WAY more climbs then it states, tough but fun and the river spots at the end are worth it. 10 miles total.

Went to the top of montara today. Sunny, amazing weather. I'm tired and weak, took the long way around the mt, usually I walk up the crack. Took me about 2 hours. Great ride. The reflection of the sun off the ocean was absolutely breath taking.

Wow! That's an amazing view. Right by the ocean too! We have some pretty scenic trails here in Kananaskis country, just no ocean, only glaciar run-off!

Yea, I kept stopping to take "view pics" those were the best ones lol. Taking pics gave me an excuse to take 30 second breaks :)

Me and my bud rode the whole loop at Hamilton Creek last night. I forget how long it is. 7-8 miles, I think. Took us almost 2 hours 'cause we're a bit rusty. First time we've had the Dawgs around the entire trail. They made the ride a lot easier, in my opinion. Especially the DH's...just point the front end and let 'em go! Visibility was getting pretty bad at the end of the ride thanks to the heavy foliage and oncoming dusk. Surprised we didn't wipe out as technical as it is out there. Great fun, tho--even on no sleep.:D

Pheard: I envy your trails. A lot. :D :eek: Amazing, that looks so fun to ride.

We also have some dirt jumps that someone built on one of the side trails. I bet you'd enjoy it :p

I think the most awesome thing about these trails are the great climb you get in, then a great dh to cool off:)

Anywho, my daily ride report? No trail, just riding around the streets getting used to these clipless pedals and the silly looking shoes :P

i went trail riding on a farm today, VERY HOT!!! Thank God for sprinklers!! Just very basic, no real challanges other than passing out!!! went alone, buddie wasn't in town... And that covers it.

Since no one was available I didn't hit the trails or do a long road ride but I decided ok, I'll go to downtown Bellevue, find the tallest parking garage and take a picture of the skyline. After

One of our group had a mechanical about 7 miles out into todays ride, so we bailed and rode roads all the way back. We ran down some triathlete types on fancy carbon bikes. I pulled for wheeliemert on the pursuit, then he walked by them (on a climb, no less) on his muddy Kona The King. It was awesome. I (of course) blew up, but will still claim the assist. (Everyone likes to draft me for some reason?).

I also feel obligated to pass along the fact that today I wore lycra shorts only for the first time in a few years, and I must say it was quite refreshing and much cooler (the temperature kind of cool, obviously) than the baggies + liners I normally wear. I hope the hardcore types on here don't hold that against me.

Then I changed shorts, we went to the local brewpub and had some nice pale ales and talked about it and laughed real loud and stuff. That was cool too.

Me and my buddy hit Hamilton Creek again, but the rocks(and there are many) were not havin' it today. Trail was in great shape. Crazy humid out, tho. Not sure how far we rode. We were probably out there for about 2:45. Shouldn't have taken more than 1:30, really. Both of us got snakebit rear tubes. First me, then him, then one of my patches failed because the hole was so big, then one of his failed 'cause he couldn't get a good seal(hole was next to a seam). I think we were getting a bit overconfident with our Dawgs'(or at least our tubes) abilities to take whatever we dished out. Glueless patches were workin' good for us until today. Gotta remember to get another patch kit ASAP!

Rode a trail in the mountains called Elbow Loop on Tuesday evening, after work. The total distance was about 45km...the first 20 km is a rather boring climb on a fire road but the views are pretty sweet. After the climbing, there is a really fast descent on loose rock for a few km...I was going mid-60km/h and the bike wanted to go faster. What made that part sketchier was all of the recent rain which had made quite a few erosion ruts...obviously I didn't get any pictures of this section. After that is about 15 km of twisty, rolly, mostly descending singletrack with a decent amount of rocks and loose rock to make it exciting. The remaining part of the trail is doubletrack/fire road with enough of a descent where you can maintain an easy 35km/h+ pace. Hadn't done it before and overall, it was a pretty fun ride.

Today I had the wildest ride of my life lol, it was great, we were ready to go to the local trails but we said what the heck and took a slight detour and went down some mountains, it was awesome, it was very steep lol and very frightening but we got through it was awesome, then when we got down we didn't know were we were and we kept going down every trail we could find only to find ourselves climbing back up after a dead end, eventually we had to take the road and ended up having to pass our bikes between each other to get them down a hil and get back on the road...

Man it was an awesome ride... extremely fun even if it wasn't too technically demanding or we didn't do much actual riding, thats the beauty of MTBs...
