manitou axel forks

I've been riding a hardtail with one on it while training for a 24hr race. Its the most flexy fork I've ever been on.

My buddy's Fisher came with an Axel fork. It has held up well for him for the last couple of years, however it really isn't as good IMHO as an equaly priced Rock Shox unit. The Judy SL on my bike now has a lot less flex and better dampening.

My Trek is coming with one of those forks on it, I have to ride it that way for the first 3 weeks before I can get my reba cut to fit it then it will be replaced. I'll let you know what I think then.

It takes you 3 weeks to cut a steerer tube? What are you using, a pair of scissors?
Just throw in a couple of spacers in the meantime. Don't subject yourself to the Manitou Axel. It will be like you are going out on a date with your suspension and it will take advantage of you. You will wake up the next morning in a strange sleezy hotel with damper fluid all over you and a dirty feeling with a vague memory of the trashwad of a fork you rode hard the night before.

Oh...well in that case, I still stand by my analogy. I like it.

I like your analogy also...sadly it is not a reality
It will have to wait until I can get the levers and cables. and I will appreciate my reba more when I do get it on there hehe.

I got the Trek bike today and have not really had a chance to try it yet, It comes with an elite axel 80 and so far it feels alittle too squishy but tomorrow I will mess with it more and let you know.

Ok people I rode my bike today around 2 pm, about 2:10 the fork blew up, seals on both sides went and it reverted to a permanent lockout. compression lockout knob does nothing on it now. It's completely rigid. Literally 10 minutes....4 times around the front yard and only off the curb, stopping only for a couple of seat adjustments. Went for a ride through the trails with it rigid and came home PISSED! ripped it off the bike and put my reba on.

Whats on the rockhopper....or do i have you confused with someone else?
Red and orange somehow work too. I wouldnt expect it to look as good as it does.

Ah fair enough. Yeah unless you're a big bloke a 21 might be a little big.
I like the orange Trek. Nice bike.

Rode the bike with the Reba today and it was AWESOME!!! It absorbs Everything!! and the lockout works great, It felt very precise and no binding at all. Once you get it dialed in its a pretty amazing fork.

When I have to ride it on the road I lock it out at about 100mm and it's nice but on some rough downhills with roots and rock's and little dropoffs the 115 felt awfully good.
