Not so much a whole rig as a frame right now. Unfortunately it will not be built up until this winter/spring "10 due to financial considerations. So what if it is 10 years old. Still a really sweet looking frame!

chelboed,

Thanks! I won it on fleabay and could not believe how good of shape it is in considering what I paid. I'm still not sure what I am going to throw out front on this thing and a Pike never even entered my thoughts until now! I was thinking a 120mm or even an '08 Reba U-Turn if I can get one somewhere. I was also just thinking of going with a Reba Team and calling it a day asI have a line on one right now for $440 shipped.

That thing was made to be pushed. (sorta) Sure, it's not as tough as the bikes of today, but the HA would be pretty alright with 5", I think. The KEWL thing about the PIKE is that you can get the U-Turn slammed down to 95mm for the techy crap and stretch it out to 140mm for the smooth-steering descents.

Picture #2 should give you the answer to that.

It's a single pivot rear tri with the pivot right above the BB shell. The FD is attached to the rear tri as D said, but the crankset is attached to the front tri.

C Law 03-04-09 01:46 PM

sorry, that was more of a rhetorical question than anything. I just didn't know people still bought those.

So, your purpose is to be the fashion police and make snarky comments at my expense? I appreciate it, thanks. Sigh...

ed 03-05-09 12:57 PM

Yeah...snarky-pants. (what's a snarky?)

I might wanna take my URT comments back...doesn't Maverick still make one?

Nevermind:

I wanted to revisit this for a moment, because I thought Ed was wrong - - but he is not. I made the false assumption that since the der. was on the rear triangle that it was a URT. Ed's right, though - -the pivot is so close that the FD can be there and still rotate around the crank. I found a very good pic to illustrate:

It was rhetorical; but it's still fun to drive it into the ground, given enough running room :D.

ed 03-05-09 05:07 PM

I love being right.

I didn't even know it was in question...that'll teach ya!
