thanks!
Well, here it is. The ride which is my '99 hardrock and the fork which cost more than it did new! :D http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...s/IMGP0650.jpg |

Hahah, yeah, when I got it I thought the same thing. It actually just has a rear arch. Normal, just uncommon.
|
Oh, and, I understand the manipoo thing. Way to be leaking oil! /kicks. Warranty over >:o

Well, after a long ass time of NOT being on this site, I finally got a real bike... I was riding a Trek 4300 for the longest time, and saved up a bit and got this little gem, a while back
http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_1094.jpg http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_1093.jpg 1999 (maybe 2000, I don't recall for certain) Heckler X. American made if that means anything Fox Vanilla rear Coil (old as the frame, I think the stock one) Raceface Cranks Crank Bros. Mallets Avid Juicy 7's, with a 6" rotor in front till I get the post mount bracket shipped, 7" in the rear SRAM X-9 rear Shimano Deore front Hell Bent bar Hutchinson Spider tires Mavic Crossride wheelset Cane Creek headset I've rode it through two Moab trips, plus year round riding in Washington rain and slog... a well loved rugby player of a bike. Now, here's my issue, anyone know what fork this is? It's a Manitou of some sort, lower end I think. any ideas? http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_1092.jpg |
Manitou black.
|
Red
|
Well then here is the other question:
Does it suck so much as to replace it? I got it like 2 years ago, and the fork was on there long before that. Not stock, but oldish. I guess is it a low end or high end worth servicing? It seems to function fine, but lord knows one day it'll just explode and sink on me... |
I too run a Manitou Black on my forge, so my Manipoo comment wasn't a jab.
AFAIK, They can still be serviced provided you don't need a stiffer or lighter spring because they aren't made anymore. I would ride it until it brakes and then upgrade. |
That's what I was figuring...
the idea behind the ass ugly paint scheme was a theft deterrent. It's worked so far... apparently Yellow with Red and White and brown just don't mix... (I love the Hell Bent..) Thus melon farmin son of a biscuit is one hell of a bike, I must say. It takes whatever I throw at it with the grace of a ballerina. Which usually does't come to mind when I think "Amasa Back" or "Gold Bar Rim" or "Portal"... |
Huh?

The new incarnation of my first "real" MTB. Bought for me in 9th grade.
details: Frame: 95 DB Wildwood. Hi-ten, heavy as hell Wheels: Giant Iguana disk hubs, iguana rims (very cheap take-offs) Stem: Suntour XC pro Levers: Suntour XC pro Brakes: DiaComp VC2 Cantilevers Saddle: Very Very cheap take-off velo. But very comfy Bars: not sure, but has a cool little badger on them, so I kept them. Had Laying around Cranks/Chainring: Big Cheese, 38T Tires: Kenda Krusher 2.1s, Seatpost: Cheapo action bikes micro adjust. Gonna pick up some better pedals and maybe put my brooks on it. the velo is comfy, but my brooks B17N is just better. Also have some planet bike hardcore fenders for when its rainy. This will see mostly railtrails, and the C&O, but will get some fireroad and singletrack as well. Gonna get a TomiCog as well for when I'm feeling the fix. Sorry for the crappy pics, my phone sucks. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...1103510ww2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...1103524ww2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...1103535ww2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...1103545ww2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...1103605ww2.jpg |

Ed, don't bash that which you do not understand. ;) Nice quiver tracke30m3. So yeah...my shed got broken into again...so did the neighbor's garage. (he lost his butt) When I'm feeling blue...I should just keep my trap shut and not answer any postst on here so I don't pick on somebody unnecessarily. Sorry thompsonpost...I was just ruffling your feathers in hopes that you'd be up for a little "e-sparring" Funny though...I don't recall what I said or if I'm even in the right thread. :roflmao: |
You were being an ^$$. I was more just talking about the road bike thing.
Sorry to hear about the shed. Anything missing? |
