That is an Awesome find, man!
|
I didn't realize what a good deal it was until I came home and researched it.
I had been looking at hardtail frames all day (on the internets) because suspension is lame and i was tired of being lame. I was about to pull the trigger on an Orange Crush but then my conscious hit me and I knew that I should at least pedal down to the locals and see if they have anything that might work. Danville Bike had just this one Viento frame. Said 300 dollars. Never heard of a viento before an never rode a banshee. I lined it up against my old Element for reference and it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. Seemed pretty nice for 300 bucks tho. So I went home and checked it out and was suprised to find that 300 was actually a major deal. So I went back and snapped it up. I got it all swapped over yesterday in like an hour. Unfortunately my back started acting up so I can't really ride it more than pedaling around town for the time being. The handling is fantastic tho. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ohn/img156.jpg Damn I really need a shorter stem for it but my steer tube is a bit uh... short. I need a stem that's under 90mm but it can't have a collar taller than 43mm. I could just order up another evolvexc stem in 70mm but they seem to be more expensive now than back when I got this one and besides I might want to go even shorter. Anyone know any 50-70 mm stems with short steerer collars? |
Sunline V-One All-Mountain comes in 50mm and 65mm and has a stack height of only 34mm.

Well...I'm saddened that you've never heard of the Viento, but if I had my choice of HT frames...the Viento is #2 second only to the OnOne Ti456 which is like $1500. I was really wanting a Banshee Scirocco after my LBS built one up, but then I ran into a Viento and liked it even more. It's a better frame for what I'm into these days...being "the light side of AM".
The Viento is a killa frame and you will have many years of "non-lame" riding ahead of you:D |

Here's the Rocky I was on until yesterday:
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...0422091926.jpg Ive been on and off that frame for like 8 years or something. I cherish it because it's supposedly built by real canadians. I have been kind of over-riding it lately (abusing it) and really don't want to break the old girl so I wanted to swap onto something that more apropriate for the riding i've been doing. This viento seems perfect for me. |
What yall think of this?:
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...0506091359.jpg It's not mine but I built it. |
Looks nice, but the fork looks out of place to me.
|
Dude that fork is out of place on anything. Amazingly, it works alright. Used some pex pipe to preload it so it never dives all the way down. All seven inches that is. Fuxor is pretty fun to ride. It will be a sad day when that fork breaks and has to be replaced by something normal.

Yeah no ****. Just looks like to much travel for the bike. HT angle looks all out of wack. how does it handle? |
Handles fine. Does not stop very good. Not great but not dangerous by a long shot. The bike was built to offend but it gets used like any other normal bike. Even gets raced here and there by whoever is ballsy enough to show up at the starting line with it.
If you roll out to starbucks with it, joe schmoe will ignore everyone else's bikes and be all impressed with fuxor instead. And guys who dont ride bikes will ask to spin it, jump on and think it's some awesome. I think that says alot. I think of fuxor as a sort of off road chopper bike. |

I have the same exact bike, but in black and white... I should take pics of mine before all my new bike stuff goes on it. |
New eggbeaters with shoes (50% off) for less than $100. I noticed a big improvement over stock. :thumb:

Yup, that's a '99 Kaitai ... I actually bought it used off of Craigslist after suffering a non-voluntary hiatus from bicycling for a few years. I have been working on it and have put new stuff on it since that picture was taken. I was out yesterday on it and I am in love. It just fits right!

Wanga! (Dial up beware)
The wheel has turned full circle, my very first bike was a red single speed.
