All these nice bikes...
Makes me kinda' depressed and ashamed of mine =) I'm going to try to pick up something better in Europe. |
Im buying parts now that I can carry over, I'm looking to just buy a frame, and then strip what I can use off the 3900.
I'm going to look at my Euro-options, and if nothing pops out at me, I love the feel and fit of hard rocks. |

If I were you though...being in Europe...google the "Kinesis Pha5e" frame. It looks burly yet still sorta light. A great trail bike, it would make. I have to admit though man...I like oddball crap. That's why I ride XC with a bunch of KS dudes on a bike brand that isn't sold anywhere near here. Everyone around me rides a Specialized, Giant, GaryFisher, or Trek. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3031/...4e005e.jpg?v=0http://tbn3.google.com/images?q=tbn:...mages/rotc.jpg http://www.bikemagic.com/news/images/pha5e_side_big.jpg |
Soem fo the AM, FR frames have caught my eye, but the price pushed me away, lol.
I'll be sure to search up this... cheeto terminology. Ill search that right now. |

*drools* amazing.. that is a beastly looking frame. Is it as burly as they claim it to be? http://www.kinesisbikes.co.uk/product.php?id=2 |
Oh, I'm sure I could break it.
|
LOL.
Well I aint broken that 3900, so I'm sure this could hold up.. but at 400 pounds for just the frame, it'll set me back awhile lol. |
Nah man...that's how much the frame weighs.
|
LOL.
better be made of solid iron =) then you couldn't break it |
You'd better move this over to "General MTB" b/c this has nothing to do with "Post your rigs."
|
-Right.
Does anyone have a Kinesis Pha5e they'd want to show off? |
Just got back from Hills of Hell on Ft. Sill, OK
Couldnt have asked for a better day!

Looks like everyone is getting some decent weather. Its almost to hot here, I'm almost looking forward to the nice, mild German Summers, (comparative to Anchorage AK Summers =) I'm lookin for a job over in germany, and a store that sells that Pha5e frame, I want to check it out.. I just like the looks, and how it claims to be so tough.. |

I'm more a road-bike guy, but we went looking for a MTB for my wife. We live in Chicago, so we initially went to look at a Cannondale H300, but the guy measured the frame wrong and it was too big. But then he said, I also have a Cannondale F700 for sale, and it's a smaller frame. My wife tested the size, and it was a perfect fit.
I said how much? He said 200, it needed a few parts so I looked up the specs on my phone, and offered him 175. He accepted. We then took it directly to our local LBS (after a quick stop at the pressure wash), had a new rear tire/tube installed, saddle, and pedals (it came with clipless but for Chicago traffic not so much). The guys at the LBS were impressed, so after 175 for the bike, about 5 dollars at the pressure wash, and 107 dollars parts, install, and tune/checkup, this is what we ended up with. I believe it is a 99 F700. Did we do well? We kinda do the roadie tires (since it is Chicago, but we do have our share of potholes) . . . http://a-symmetric.com/cannondalef70...edium_0018.JPG http://a-symmetric.com/cannondalef70...edium_0004.JPG http://a-symmetric.com/cannondalef70...edium_0016.JPG http://a-symmetric.com/cannondalef70...edium_0010.JPG |
Look up washing bikes with pressure washers. I won't go into details because they're everywhere, but it's a no no.

Good to know about the pressure wash
Thanks for the info on the pressure washing (I'll never let it happen again).
But still a pretty nice MTB right? Although I like the road-biking, I think I actually have a case of bike-envy. |
