I don't personal experience with them, but I know two people with them and they like 'em a lot. Incidentally both users of them are newbies and they say its quite comfy. Only problem is the fork; one of the guys that has one is bigger a little of 200lbs, and that fork bottoms out for him quite a bit.

By the way, both users got that bike within this year, same color also.

I've done downhill, and x-country at Bromont, in Quebec.
Also do alot of bikepaths, which means trying to keep everything as light as possible.
Saddlebags are great to have when doing the bikepaths, but the rack comes off when doing x-country. (so do the sem-slick tires, and these Michelins are put on)

I like it a lot, but if you already have a 4300 I'm not sure it'd be worth it to upgrade, as the components on the Blast are pretty low-end as well. I regret a little not splurging for the Caldera (which is spec'd out much better than the Blast and would be a substantial upgrade over a 4300), but alas I did not have the money and quite frankly it's probably too much bike for a newbie like me (at least for the near future).

I agree with z415's friend that the fork isn't that great for heavier people, as I'm 240 lbs. and definitely wish the fork was a little better. I have to set the preload basically as stiff as it will go, lest I ride around with a half-compressed fork all the time. I guess it's better than having a cheap RST or Suntour fork though.

Giant Faith 2. Excellent for downhill. I wanna replace the fork and am already replacing the pedals. I'll end up replacing the fork when I've worn it out. Right now I'm having issues with the rear wheel and I'll have someone at the bike shop look at it.
