I thought the kenda one looked good

Halebopp 05-05-08 01:26 PM

My new ride, I need to throw on some clipless pedals as well as upgrade the fork when I find some spare cash. I'm pretty excited about it though.

Was that Q for me? If so, the frame is a "noname" German frame. The brand is Vortrieb, but that's just the name given to it by the mail order company that sells them. Fairly light and nice frame, though. ~1540 g in 19" size, all for ~US$280. Total weight, as pictured, is 23.5 lbs. Not superlight, but pretty good.

liv rong, how do you like the Alliance?

I can not give an honest opinion of it because I have not done any serious riding in years, so i really have no basis to judge it. I can tell you that it is fast though. I work at a shop and ride other bikes, and this one does cruise out. I cant tell you about value because I Ep'd it, so I didnt spend too much on the bike and upgrades. I am also still getting used to clipless so I am not fully using the bike to its potential on single track, plus my front end is all over the place(most likely my fault though). I never even rode the bike with the X7 components, it came right out of the box and on went XT, minus the front derailuer. I do love the damn thing though and ride it as much as I can, which isnt enough because I work two jobs and never have a full day off. It sucks working in a shop after i get off of my full time job, and Im around bikes all day and all i want to do is ride my bike, but what can you do.

Imagine a picture of an 08 Paragon here.
Egg beater SL's, but completely stock aside from that.
Real pics later.

That Blur is hot! Thing looks ready to rip!

BFG 05-10-08 05:39 AM

I'm still getting my head around the asymmetrical rear triangle on the new Blur. It looks whacked out.

Hows the new bike ride never?

yessir.
I use Larsen TT UST tires on the Mavic crossmax SLR wheelset, but I wanted something for roads and dirt, so I picked up some Vuelta Team SL wheels, Aztec rotors, a SRAM pg-990 cassette, a pair of slime smart tubes, and the holy rollers.
I'm really liking them so fat.. just got them together this week.

I changed up the images in my last post, so there are some nicer pics now.
I got out today in the sun and shot some new stuff.. sunlight beats fluorescents in a garage any day.

Ditch the kickstand, eh? There's a reason mountain bikes don't come with them...

liv_rong,
What tires are you running? They look almost like Small Block 8s.

Hopefully I'll be able to ride again in the fall and see you at some CAMBr events like the race.

Scott

what would that be, since I ride on asphault and hardpack?
If I ride XC, or more to the point, when I ride XC again, I'll remove it and switch wheelsets.
For now, I leave the bike outside in front of a friend's house when I'm out, and I don't care to leave it lying around in gravel.

There's a reason they sell kickstands, too.

I do apologize. Next time I'll be less presumptuous, and when I make assumptions, I'll make sure to add a disclaimer.

For example, I'll gladly revise my statement to:

ASSUMING you use your bike for its intended purpose
, ditch the kickstand :D
