The one thing about xmart bikes that allways makes me laugh are the crank arms. It seems I may be able to snap them in half.
Actually one piece steel cranks are pretty tough.

Now don't get me wrong, because I can understand why someone would spend $400 plus on a bike. But what you need to ask yourself is, Why would someone buy a Volkswagen over a Porche? There are one of two reasons. Either they like the Volkswagen better, (which is unlikely) or the Volkswagen is all that they can afford. The bike does what I need it to and I like it. That's all that really matters anyway, right? You buy a bike to ride because you enjoy riding.

lowndragon, I think your bike is nice. A lot of people make their bikes to their liking, for they are the ones and usually the ONLY ones to ride it. People say things about my bike sometimes. That's only because they may not have done this or done that to theirs, yet I did to mine. You see that Kona in my avatar? I was going to put a wicker basket on it. Sure I got some snickers but I also got some support. Needless to say, I didn't do it. My brother photoshopped a basket on it and I didn't go for it.

So enjoy your bike, RIDE your bike, and remember - it's YOUR bike. Put together to YOUR liking. And if you like it, then that's all that really matters. Thanks for sharing your pic.

And please don't take what NoF3ar said personally. He is a pretty cool guy and he is not the type to try to hurt feelings. I don't see him as a mean person at all. He's just saying that thin crank arms aren't his type, that's all.

Dude, come on. I don't think that a Trek 930 is much better than a Wal Mart bike. How bout you post up some pics of your bike, so we can comment on it and I can tell you that you should get a whole new friggin bike.

Ha, you think that an xmart bike is better than a trek 930? I have brand new xt cranks and newly cleaned and tuned drivetrain, that thing shifts like butta. If you actually think any xmart dual suspension bike will own mine I'd love to see that.

Lowndragon, the only reason I make fun of xmart bikes is because they really are bad. If you use it for trail use (which I did on my aluminum framed dualie) it will brake down fast. It usually is a waste of money to upgrade a bike like that, sorry for sounding like an ahole lol.

No, he isn't saying an x mart bike is better than your 930. What he is saying is that while you sit in judgement of this dudes bike, you have a pretty crappy bike yourself in the grand scheme of things. But hey, no problem. You enjoy your crappy bike , and maybe this guy does also.

There are many levels of crappy.

To lowndragon,

If your bike makes you happy then fine. As long as it suits your needs. However, keep in mind that if you are planning to do some any serious trail riding, that bike will not hold up very long. And please make sure that every bolt is nice and tight. And do not upgrade the bike at all. Save your money. When you 'get the finances' put it towards a better bike.

The last few are when we were riding in the mud after a week of rain, fun!!
!
All Im saying is my bike at least has entry level components, you can't even compare that to an xmart bike. If people think my bike is crappy thats fine, but I know it can beat any xmart bike anyday of the week.

Bikes: Cannondale MTB, K2 Road bike

If it makes you happy, it can't be that bad. Heard that in a song somewhere. there is wizdom in the words, fellow riders. BTW, I always thought my xmart bike was GREAT until I got on a Cannondale. Ignorance was bliss! Now I'm ruined for life!

I take issue with that...I love my Golf GTI to bits, and not for a moment do I regret not buying a 911...

Bikes: '01 Zaskar with a mish-mash o' bits

I've nicked this post verbatim from another site I post on, but here goes...

Was getting bored with my faithful Dawes after a few years' trusty service, but not least after I had a quick shot of Tipper's Zaskar, so I bought me some new bits to keep the love alive...

...but even they weren't enough...then this baby turned up for much cheapness...

...naturally I couldn't resist...state of play yesterday afternoon was this...

New headset and seatpost should be arriving today, ready for a hard weekend!

I've driven a couple, and found the late eighties turbos to be mental, and the 993 targa to be a bit of a pu$$y.

When you snap a 1 piece steel crank, let me know, until then you're an idiot.

I think its fair to say comparing my trek 930 to an xmart bike makes you the idiot. Actually I have "snapped" a steel crank arm before on one of my past bikes from target. Or maybe it wasn't steel at all, I dont know.

Ok first things first before you confuse me.. Spoke guard? the plastic behind the cassette? What do you suggest I do with the bars?

Yes the clear plastic dish that is sitting between the cassette and the spoke is the spoke guard. Take it off.

Is that a 1 to 1 1/8 steerer tube adapter or a 1 1/8 to 1 1/8 extension?
