Here is a photo son's new Heckler. We have been building it for 2 months.
XT/XTR/Race face drivetrain, Hayes Mag Hydro's, Marz Dropoff II, Thomson post, XT/Rhino Lite wheels, Nokian NBX 2.3's, ODI lockon's. He brought the Fizik seat, King headset and lockon's over from his hardtail. He won the headset at the King Cyclocross series last winter, 3rd overall in the beginner class at 12 years old. Spoiled? Maybe, but he takes bigger drops and catches bigger air than I do. I am no superstar, finish middle of the pack in Sport XC, but the day is coming when he is going to drop me on a long climb too. Don't want to hold him back

Bikes: '97 Jamis Dakar
I had a '97 Jamis Dakar, red, 8-speed (8 is my favorite number), changed wheels to some with mavic 519 rims for two-ton, fat slob rider. Compensated for extra weight by leaving off saddle. Boy, that hurt, but now I can sing soprano. It was a great bike, but I swapped with a kid for this one. The canopy keeps me cool in the summer.

i have one bike that is completely frozen icicles and all because of the weather - my shifters were sticking. i decided to take my other bike for the commute to work. i'm guessing that leaving the first bike out in the rain all year long, some liquid must be in the lines. probably froze and that's my problem. can't move it now because i don't want to break anything with the ice all over it.
the second bike has hydraulic brakes, but shifters are still mechanical - only thing i can think of is some liquid (water, rain) must be in the lines of the other bike to make the shifters stick. the second bike shifts fine.
saw the snow and thought i might ask for experiences through the -10 below with windchill weather. last year i didn't have this problem. good thing i have a second bike now.
....by 'first bike' i mean the gt hardtail, and 'second bike' i mean the ironhorse
