The pivots were losening up on me a lot. Even after locktite. I wanted something a little more durable for where I ride. I'm 45 minutes up the coast from SC so I am partial to the local thing as well. I also wanted the 5th element and that didn't seam like an immediate option for the Enduro yet. The Enduro bobbed like crazy unless I had the lock-out on. Which wasn't very helpful for quick sprints. The Heckler w/ 5th element feels like it has 2 more inches of travel over the Enduro, very plush. And there is absolutely no bob (noticable) whatsoever, even while sprinting. A truly incredible shock. You can land sideways and the shock will suck down and straighten you back out. The Enduro would wash out the front end in similar situations. I have not noticed any brake jack either. I have to say that I am really beginning to wonder if FSR is just a bunch of hype? I know it's not a completely fair comparison for me to make because of the different shocks. But a single pivot w/ 5th elemant is a great combo for sure!

Hmmm strange. I got an enduro SX, it has nothing similar to what you describe, no bob, no loosening, and certainly is stiff on the rear. Well i guess that the SX version is very different to the normal one...

Nice bike math! Yes, the geometry and travel are different on your bike. I'm a pretty big guy at around 230 lbs too. I've seen a guy 50 pounds lighter than me pedal his Fox RC equipped Enduro with no bob. So there are plenty of variables.

dpdsurf.

I am 6ft.2" and i am 225lbs, however the SX doesnt bob at all for me. Maybe its the different geometry in combination with a super stiff spring that i have.

I have ridden though a normal Enduro with a Float RL and it was crappy in terms of bob.

Diamondback Man

I have a 2002 Topanga and like it an awful lot. Upgraded to clipless pedals and better tires. My first bike was a Mongoose from Academy Sports. This was a huge upgrade for me. Will be looking to upgrade further in the next year or so. However, this bike will always remain a favorite of mine.
