Yeah, 8" in the front, 9.5 in the rear. I hear it can handle 3' drops....TO FLAT!!!
Someday I just might get the nerve to test that out.

3' drop to flat would be necessary just to activate the suspension on that!
Very sweet ride!
How do you like your Dorado?

anyone got an extra drool-towel?

I really won't be able to get a good feel for the Dorado until next summer when the lifts open back up. All I do in the winter is a little low speed trail riding which isn't a good test of a DH fork.

I believe that is the frame that weighs in at 5lbs so the entire bike should be around 30somthin'.
That is on sweet rig.

Are the newer Rohloff hubs improved over the past generations?
I've seen numerous posts at other bike forums with owner's complaining about oil leaks, and gear problems.
If they are reliable now, it would be a great relief from the clunkety-clunk of the ol' rear derailleur.

One of my best friends is a Specialized dealer, he allready gave them the money for his new Demo 9 that he is buying for himself. When I spoke to him last night he told me that Specialized finally release the weight of the Demo 9 to him at 48lbs. I forgot to ask if that was for the Pro or the DH model but they weights of the two should be very close.
Rohloff solved the oil leaking problem their first year, they work very well know, the only thing I don't like about it is that if you are pedaling hard it will jump into 14 while shifting between 7 and 8. It kills your spin, it's like hitting a wall, your're pedalling along and then feel like your feet just stop. They don't actually stop but jumping from gear 7 up to 14 is such a huge change that it feels that way. I just remember to back off a bit (soft pedal) when changing between 7-14 now to get around it, but I do really wish they'd fix the issue.
Still minor in comparison to the shifting issues derailuers have.

I've got a 2004 Kona Hoss - made for a big guy like me. Haven't made many mods - did change out the pedals to Candy C's and added a longer stem.

I'm loving the Hoss - just what I needed in a bike at this stage of my riding abilities, etc. Very solid, decent component group, built to take a beating. Your Dawg is an awesome bike, too. I actually looked at one of those but decided I couldn't justify the extra money. Also, being a big, heavy guy (was about 275 when I started looking - now at 260), I wasn't sure the Dawg's rear suspension would be able to take my weight. I also seriously considered the Coiler, but eventually I realized the Hoss just made more sense...

really not in the class of most posted bikes
found in a garage- ridden by kids- best $150 I ever spent, very slow on the upgrades though-
some sweets- rear mavick rim, dt swiss spoke, deore dx hub
downhill aomeba t-6 5mm alu handlebars
shimano slr brake levers
axiom telscope post and velo plush saddle
mostly the rest is shimano deore dx components
shimano sg c-46 front sprockets
araya rm-20 front rim ( came with the bike stock- prob 13 years ago-?)
so steel is great-13 years old- 1 little dent, lots of tensile strength in the frame still. weighs about 24 pounds- on a diet. oh I did paint the primer black- and am looking for old 1 inch threaded suspension fork.
I like the look of most of your bikes better- but for a old bike, this one rips.j
