I'm not lacking money in any way. But you don;t need to drop 5 grand on a bike to be good. I have a friend that could race and beat those guys with his walmart bike. Skill is in the rider not the bike.
Nothing against those guys though. I'd love to ride those around, if someone gave me one. I won't drop that kind of cash for a bike though.

I hear ya FoX Rider, my bike was around $400 when I got it, I find myself doing just as much or more as people with really expensive bikes, one day I will probably get a nicer one but I don't feel the need right now. But as for thoes Wal-Mart bikes... I dunno.. They'd probably break in half off a 2 foot drop.

well actually money doesnt directly make you a better rider, but if you have a bike capable of doing alot (which may cost a fair chunk of change) it will allow you to progress with out having to worry about it failing, so in a way money can make you a better rider.

I actually agree that money doesn't make you better. But, when everything works smoothly, and there is nothing to worry about (like shifting, braking, tires, weird sounds...), it improves the riding quality and increases fun factor a lot. I have a $3k bike, but on the other hand I have a $200 car
I'll post the pictures of the bike here soon

Yeah, I bet that thing is awesome for trails.
Does that car work properly for 200 bucks? I was expecting I'd need to pay at least $1000 to get something that works, lol

chaloots, how ya like that Brooklyn? I almost bought one but got a great deal on a different frame. Do you race it? If so how does it feel/handle the higher speeds?
But it can make a great rider greater

i love it. its my second brooklyn i rode a tmx prior to this. it has the same bottomless suspension feel w/less of a weight penalty. its a lot more manuverable. it loves high speed runs. i feel confident launching it speed. i've only raced once. it was a norba race at mnt snow last year. i plan on doing it again this year. i also ride plattekill and diablo regularly and i'll enter at least one race in each series this year

Well here is a picture of my old warhorse. Old but still extremely reliable!!
1990 Brodie Catalyst
Shimano XT all round (Chainrings, Hubs, Rapid fire Shifter/Brake Levers, Canti Front/U-Brake rear, Derailers)
Wolber Rims
Schwalbe Tires (Michelin X-Treme's for when the going gets tough)
Panazz Carbon Riser Bar
Panazz Alum Seat post
Avocet Saddle
To be installed:
Chris King Headset and New Kinesys threadless fork (yes sans suspension)
Crank Bros Egg beaters
Still as nimble a ride as she ever was.
Great to get back in the saddle
And perhaps on the trails in the vicinity of Montreal!
