Thinking of swapping in the Nevegals for the weekend... the Hurricanes are good for hard pack and XC but lack a little bite for single track.

This bike was built a mile from where I took this picture... estimate that it is a 1990 built my Jim Moulden, a local builder who has retired from the frame building business so it is also classic and vintage. :)

My Blizzard is a better set up for rooty and rocky trails but will not keep up with the Moulden on the hard pack and flats and a few weeks ago took the Moulden 100 miles on the road.

Bike will go in for fresh powdercoat this winter and will see if I can't upgrade a few bits to get the weight down to < 22 pounds... she curbs out at 24 now.

My '88 Kona Explosif is going to get built up as an SS and I expect a sub 20 pound build on that.

Enough retro-foolishness. A little relief . . . dirt drops: really dirt; really dropped.

More fat tire relief:

I don't know, but it looks a lot like a Geekhouse Yo' Marty. I know that they do custom stuff with it, so maybe he got it through them.

If they had a throw-up smiley here, I would be using it liberally.

Zephyr11 10-01-11 03:41 PM

Yer all just jealous!

samburger 10-01-11 06:15 PM

Can I just ask, in all seriousness, why?

ed 10-01-11 07:32 PM

We are not going to start being all "seriousness" now. Commence with the hooligan'anigans.

If you say so, Ed.

I don't own that second bike anymore. It was just a little too aero for me.

Don't worry guys, I mess with road bikes too.

That bike is a crime against humanity. When was your last UN tribunal?

Zephyr11 10-01-11 08:10 PM

That one?! I thought the DMR was the best. Sort of looks like an overbuilt road bike for little kids, don't you think?

EDIT: I should post the Cervelo with the F100 in the road forum.

samburger 10-01-11 09:16 PM

^Of course, my dumb ass can't tell a photoshop'd bike from a real one. Carry on with the hooliganism.

Zephyr, you should post the picture of that 20" in the BMX forum...someone posted a thread recently asking if anyone had ever put road bars on a BMX bike before:lol:

Nope, standard 1 1/8th. The fork is from Igleheart what use to work at Fat so it's appropriate for the frame.

LesterOfPuppets 10-02-11 01:07 PM

Somebody buy that Jamis guy some bartape!

Suspensions are for sissies and old men. :D

Bike was also fun when it was a drop bar single speed, rolling on some 2.1 Kenda knobbies.

Friend gave me the bike and was running high psi slicks with the stock flat bars... it was a nasty harsh ride until it got some proper sneakers under it.

Sixty Fiver 10-02-11 02:43 PM

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...e/DSC03086.jpg

I have wanted to do that to a bike for some time.
