^Nice. Here's a couple from Sunday's hike to Lake Isabel.

I like the multi-colored brush :thumb: Probably covered in snow right now. Here's another shot from St. Elmo area:

Just a few "point and shoots" from the Western Slope while riding in the Monument the last couple days.
Fruita Canyon Climb http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/FruitaDT.jpg A Big Horn near the top. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...igHorn9232.jpg Cycling along the Rim Drive http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...ceRock9251.jpg ........and the descent on the Junction side. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...stMonument.jpg The autumn weather has been ....so nice. |
Love the snapshots, Sagebum. I grew up in that area, so it's esp. nice for me to revisit. Speaking of that area....here's a shot I took this weekend from Grand Mesa:

ccdrider...I think we missed the peak of aspen colors by a week but your pics make the most of anything.
We have lived here part time for a very long time and always enjoy it all. Monday I rode from Cedaredge over to Powderhorn and back. The Aspens were well past but the Oaks were starting to peak. http://www.sagebum.com/BikeForums/Ce...Oaks9282bf.JPG http://www.sagebum.com/BikeForums/RedOaks9281bf.JPG One of my favorite spots on the Mesa side near the top. http://www.sagebum.com/BikeForums/Me...pens9281bf.JPG http://www.sagebum.com/BikeForums/As...rove9281bf.JPG Well we leave Saturday, may be back in November.....with a little snow and clouds the Monument can be very pretty then too. |
Cool shots.....love the Mesa! It's such an amazing place that only the locals really are aware of.....it's hard to imagine 300 lakes up there! Here's another shot from a small pond off one of the many dirt roads in the area:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...IMGP6758-1.jpg And then here's another very colorful shot from the area between Collbran and Silt.....one of the reasons they call it Colorful Colorado!: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...IMGP6786-1.jpg |
Not technically a "mountain". It's really a giant hole in the ground but here's from Sublime Point on the north rim of the Grand Canyon

Close enough. It's mountainous like terrain, so it qualifies. Sublime is a good word. :thumb:

Continuing in my vein of holes in the ground, here are pictures from a trip to the Picketwire Dinosaur trackway in southeastern Colorado
Purgatory River Canyon (aka Picketwire Canyon) http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...e/DSCN0006.jpg Petroglyphs along the trail. This is one of about 5 horned lizard features at this site http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...DSCN0033-1.jpg The reason I go down there. Sauropod tracks (likely apatosaurs) from 150 million years ago. A nice day on the beach. There are several parallel tracks to these two sets indicating herding behavior. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...DSCN0046-1.jpg Coming down one of two climbs in the canyon. The last one (back to camp is a killer:eek:) http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...DSCN0053-1.jpg Just to show that there are no mountains out here http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...DSCN0053_2.jpg An American Pronghorn doe from the above picture. She was scooting along at about 40 mph at this point. |
This one is pretty weird. This particular angle of a shot at sunrise makes the rock on the right appear to be a face. As far as I know there is no mention of this in any guidebook nor have I seen anyone else take a photo from this vantage point. This is looking northeast toward the Mummy Range from Rock Cut on Trail Ridge Road.

I call this shot "The Maze":
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...IMGP6595-1.jpg Here's a close up of how thick the aspen boles are in this area of southern Colorado: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...IMGP6596-1.jpg |
Turquoise Lake from Hagerman Pass, Sawatch Range....central Colorado.
