I wonder if there is a way to combine the "Schwag" and "Addiction" threads?
As RUOkie pointed out, there is cross-talk between the two threads and they have both essentially de-volved into 41 FOO, so it would be simpler to combine them into one thread.
Of course they are both PCAD's fault.

If pcad ok'd it we probably could make that fly . . . . but I doubt pcad would agree.

This is a fun post, taken from another forum.
Today, on a blistery and cold December night in the boonies of upstate Minnesota (Sandstone), between Minneapolis and Duluth, I embarked on the road back to Ironman, from the (Greybar Motel), aka federal prison. Its been 29 months since I was able to enjoy running on the "street" as my fellow inmates say and todays short 3 mile run began on a track inside the main prison yard, with seven rows of razar wire and a guard tower manned with guards with high powered rifles glistening in the distance. The track is nice, paved, and 2.4 laps per mile. Inside oval is a weight "pit" where inmates push iron all day and night. Due to some "marital difficulties" and the fact I was set up in the first place to wind up in here (more later on that), I turned to food (which at the Federal Bureau of Prisons facility) is actually well prepared, tasty and in robust portions and reading which resulted in poor mental and physical health, a long memory from the eleven Ironman's I have competed in, ending July 21, 2008 (the date I self-surrendered) to a "camp" in McKean (PA).
I ran slow, but determined, through 16 degree temps tonight, ending the run in 35 minutes, but I finished. I wanted badly to quit but recalled my finish at the Mt. Washington uphill bike climb, which hurt more, and visualized how I want to look, feel and compete in 2011 (I should hit the street in about a year or less). I listened to a very cool christian rock station, www.refugeradio.fm, which rocks, and helped me make it.
I thought alot about the past year, being transfered (I was a bad-boy at the camp I served the first 8 months of my sentence in by getting caught with a cell phone, which I realized was over-rated and just plain wrong in here, given there are real killers and violent men) around the FBOP by bus and on Con-Air (yes I had the lovely experience of flying them 2x whle being black-boxed (a sadistic form of hand-cuffs and manicled around my feet) through a United States Penitentiary (very scary experience), and finding out from a Freedom of Information request that the government paid the only witness against me and my investigator (I am a disbarred criminal defense trial attorney from New York) at my trial $5,000.00 cash during the trial and didn't tell us, my "appeal" is pending with the NYC federal court. To top it off, the witness, "Flip" killed (shot him in the head during a drug deal) a man in November 2009 and was acquitted of all charges in Orange County in 2010. It's been a very wild ride and running tonight actually made me feel human again, for 35 minutes, forgetting where I am and how I got here. It made me believe again, that with mental toughness, anything is possible to overcome. I ended up walking for another 10 minutes or so and decided that this running thing is alot of fun, wow did I enjoy it. I thought about my favorite trail run, the Undivided Lots run in New Paltz (NY) featured in September runners world and looking forward to running it again, alone, as I usually did with most trail runs.
I especially wanna thank my good friend, another slowtwitch dude and world class athlete, for convincing me last weekend to stop feeling sorry for my predicament, factually innocent or not, and step up to this challenge. For me, the most important part of my road back to fitness, is the time to escape this place mentally for a precious few minutes and think about problems, dreams and my fate after prison. That's my "two cents" for now."
Peace out!

That's bigger than a regular track.
Back when I was a student (and "runner") I sometimes ran at the track. I just as well could have been doing it in prison. Come to think of it there was a fence around the place . . . just no armed guards.

His thread was titled "Prison to Ironman." I guess he won't be racing until he's paroled.

Pcad could still veto the popular vote . . . they're his threads.
I bet! They know how to handle snow in that neck of the woods.

We have two snowblowers. Both were given to us, broken, for free, by a coworker. Mr. TS got the first one running and he's been using it the past couple seasons. The second one was a more recent acquisition, along with the rusty old bicycle we have as a lawn ornament, when the guy tore down his garage to build a new one.
It's bigger/more powerful, and it had more issues. He changed the oil, which was goopy and blue, and had to get some belts or whatnot, the auger was jammed, and installed a switch so that there was a better method to turning it off other than shorting a wire on the frame of itself. He spent almost $100 on parts, and spent the better part of an afternoon fixing it.
You can imagine how pissed he was when he later got on craigslist to see how much the first one was worth, and found better ones for around $100.
Oh well.
We don't have a lot of driveway, but it's a pretty steep incline from the road, and there are retaining walls at the bottom. By the second or third snowfall, you have to be He-Man to hoist the snow up that high with a shovel, and the first blower didn't have the guts to do it either. Then there's the fact that we're on an intersection, and in front of our house there are three lanes, and all that snow gets pushed over on us. Effers. He's looking forward to the first real snowfall to test his handiwork.

Did the schwag thread get jettisoned?
