It seems weird that there is disincentive to clear the snow from the sidewalks. Wouldn't people be just as likely to sue if they twisted an ankle or something in the snow?

I was on crutches for a week one winter when we lived in the city. I had very mean thoughts about people who didn't clear their walks.

It isn't really a big deal because it's just poor people that take them. That's why the rates are so high. They expect a lot of the people to never be able to pay them back. It's amazingly crappy for the people that are stuck taking them, because they are digging themselves a hole that's near impossible to get out of, but I don't think it could have the same sort of implications for the larger financial system like sub-prime loans did.

The version I heard is that an uncleared sidewalk presents an obvious hazard, while clearing off the snow means that there is no longer an obvious hazard.

people suck. F them.
He's just peeved because you are making him look lazy for not clearing his snow.

apparently he is right. the pavement is not the responsibility of residents but a council responsibility. by clearing it i have interfered with public space and so i am then responsible for the condition of that space. crazy. the law is an ass.

They're compression socks. No one has outright laughed, but maybe they will when I wear the neon green ones.

Though, for running, I've grown fond of the socks that have individual toes.

I wonder how long it will last. My comment was deleted in less than 2 minutes and my commenting privileges were revoked.
