he datlas, when i was in universty my flatmate had the same problem. he was very active sportsman and had a high metabolism and ate like a pig every meal. I suggested he ate more like me, the lazy good for nothing slob, but keep his exercise. He watched me for a day and worked out that I was eating all the time. There was always something edible to hand and I ate without even knowing I was eating. It worked for him.

I think I will just have an extra helping and some dessert and see how it goes. I don't even really want to gain any weight, but might want to put on 3 or 4 pounds just to keep the "boss" happy.

Ok so my wife's bike came (Motobecane SRAM Rival CX bike) and it's got a double chain ring where mine has a triple. She's not as strong as me (endurance/strength) but she weighs 60lbs less.
So while I have no problem switching drive trains (mine is tiagra/sora) it would mean downgrading her bike. So I'm not sure what to do... she is just getting into cycling and isn't quite as passionate as me but that is subject to change.

Coasting, what does it mean when a horse wants vodka? Is this some type of mixed metaphor??

Do you live in a super hilly area? If you don't - leave her bike alone, she'll be fine.
If you DO swap it out - under no circumstances let her know that she's getting the downgrade. Trust me.
