Ouch. I know it's poor form to offer an I-told-you-so to the ailing, but I have commented on the dumbness of soccer a number of times here.

A couple interesting things from the mid-day ride:

--I saw a waver (Statute of Liberty one). She was an older one and didn't look so enthusiastic about her waving. Maybe Razor should produce an educational how-to video on the craft.

--Is anyone into bird watching? I saw a huge number of white birds hovering around and resting in a lake inlet. They were kind of like smaller seagulls. Some kind of migratory action going on?

I'm not sure who bearboy is but a disproportionate number of farms that do sell such wares are Amish and Mennonite. How else do they make money?

I didn't even know they had farms in Utah. I thought it all looked like this:

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned that soccer is the cause of me either getting stitches or using crutches at least once or twice a year. I twist and pull things playing indoor, and tend to need a lot of neosporin and band aids playing outdoor. It's also the source of me telling a total stranger on a plane once "I'm used to balls hitting me in the face."

That's about as good as it gets.

I've only seen pigeon, crow and seagull so far today. If there's a good break in the rain I might ride by the cattail patch and see if I can see any red winged blackbirds.

We have a large family of Cardinals in our back yard. We also have finches, wrens, and sparrows. It is like Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. On my rides I usually look out for the raptors, especially hawks, Pergrines, and owls. Once or twice a year I get to see a Bald Eagle. They are HUGE.

can a bald eagle attack you on your bike? it might mistake you for a running animal.

they are very fearful of humans and tend to go after smaller prey like rabbits, rats, gophers and the like. They will also scavange what other raptors kill.

I've never toured Utah. That's some diverse scenery. Needs more water and vegetation.

Oh, why not? Just don't post that slipper picture again.

You know what's cool? When you are riding by an open area and a large bunch of birds lifts off into flight just as you approach it.

i like it when a bird is flying alongside you and keeping a similar speed.

amazing eagle footage. being prey sucks.

That happened to me on Sunday. It was awesome. All of a sudden, I felt like I was surrounded by hundreds of black birds. As I looked around in amazement, I rode through some slush and almost went into a ditch. That was less awesome.

It was a lot like snorkeling or diving amongst thousands of fish. Same feeling.
