Hey guys, I thought I'd share some of my latest brazing projects.
A front rack:

a "décaleur" with hanger

And, a derailleur! Bonus points if you can figure out how it works

Hehe thanks guys
I love doing this but I'm pretty slow, inefficient, it takes a lot of my time and if you look closely, errr, it's not perfect.
But all in all, if I could do it with the very limited materials and tools I have, you guys should give it a try too! Ok I cheat I have access to a machine shop, but you don't really need one. I could give some sort of tutorial. Not that I have the authority though.
Anyway. I'm open to ideas! Keep-em coming.

Yeah, that was a RIM sponsored thing (I think). I was inches away from a person ride in Austin with Lance, but a teen that just finished fighting cancer got to go instead. I completely understand and would have suggested he go instead anyway, but damn would that have been cool.

hey iherald- still unable to get your rim. They're saying it might not be until the winter when the new stuff starts coming in, so perhaps keep your eyes open at the show! It was a 36h silver sun CR18 rim Keith had recommended.

Is 54cm too big? This Pueguot on Kijiji is a good deal at $285 with RSX components and modern brifters for shifting....

I mention this as over half the RSX shifters I see in the shop are kinda dodgy feeling, if they even still function at all. I think it is fair to peg avg STI shelf life at about a decade.

Bikes: Menonite black urbanite, probably enough spare parts to make anther one.
Just a word of caution to anyone looking at bikes of this vintage with STI shifters, make sure they still work and work well (defined 'positive' clicks) because if/when they go, expect to pay $250+ for a new set.
