hey! i found a video of operator showing off his almond sex legs...

Offhoff 05-10-07 07:18 PM

Wow those dura-ace cranks really do make a difference.

/Rant on
I hate how no bike shops in toronto seem to want to sell just frames and forks. I don't want to buy a complete, I want the parts I WANT, not the ones you or some suit think I want. I don't want your crappy wheels or your crappy stem or your crappy headset. I just want the frame and fork so I can put what I want on it. And I want it in 50 or 51 PLEASE. I didn't think it would be this hard. I'm so tempted to just buy one from the internets and not give my money to any of the locals. Ugh.

/Rant Off

If anyone could kindly point me in the direction of a frame/fork set in 50 or 51 I would be very appreciative.

Okay, let's think about it:

- Pake: That's Merry Sales out of the states. Talk to the people at ACS who also distribute KHS, they're partnered up with them.
- Bianchi Pista/Concept: Urbane normally has some. There's no Canadian rep/distribution now so talk to a shop and see if they'll order in from the U.S.
- Steamroller: Anyone that deals with QBP or NRG (in Canada) can get you a frame set. The 2007 stock recent came in.
- IRO: Talk to Keith, he's the local guy for them.
- Fuji Track/Fuji Pro: Talk to Keith, again ... he's the guy.
- Soma Fabrications: Talk to someone that deals with ACS (ie, C.T.) - they can bring something in for you.
- Bareknuckle/Brassknuckle: Someone that semi-regularly deals with EAI in Miami. That's a tough one because of the duties/shipping incured by the shop. Maybe talk to Urbane and see how often they order.
- Salsa: you can do through a Canadian supplier now. Cycle Therapy just set up an account with them.
- Jamis/Argon 18/Lemond: Talk to Cycle Therapy. If the frame you're intersted in isn't available a lot of the time a shop will be willing to strip a complete.
- Caybe Uno: That's J&B Importers out of the states. They're kind of sketchy but at times that's useful for shops. Ask around and see who deals with them. I normally see the stock bike but it's also available as a frame set.

That's what comes to mind. Maybe it's just an issue of not that many people buying frame sets and you being slightly off the middle of the bell curve size-wise. Custom builds scream "special order" so I'd ask what's available rather than expecting to see it hanging on a wall. If it's a nightmare scenario of "what size to get" I'd say stop by our shop w/ your current bike and I can talk you through some options that might also fit. I don't care you get it from us - call it a bike forums favour.

Do I want to ask why you were looking for such videos?

shapelike 05-10-07 08:40 PM

Cycle Therapy is also hiring. If you know any decent people who find bikes to be interesting/fun/etc. send 'em our way. We're looking for everything from runners to sales and service people.

I think it's like The Ring. I tried to show it to my gf but she'd already seen it too and was havin' none of it.

Edit: Hahaha, I hate Bobby Julich. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2yUxj6P2aU

i'd imagine that they would be treated to avoid warping; they're probably also quite a bit stiffer than any materials around back then.

anyone riding tomorrow? i don't have anything on except looking for a 1 1/8" to 1" shim...

Can anyone tell me the exact address of Parts Unknown? I am trying to track down a cheap used front basket and figured that would be a good place to look. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
