@Traffic Jammer - was that you at the Training Room this morning? Could swear it was you but was not 100% sure. If not, you've got a doppelganger ...

I don't mind riding my mountain bike and think I'm free on Wednesday, but what's the deal? Anything remotely tricky? I'm not so great offroad, and I'd ideally want my fenders off and back wheel trued... :p
TylerM, yep I was there... I was riding alongside zippered the whole time - unless you don't know any of us.. ;) edit: http://vic.gedris.org/pics/2007-09-2...09-23-053.html :) |
My turn for a link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mef_y...elated&search= I think this is just incredible... the very fact they're able to go out and do this stuff is kickass. |
unfortunately, i find mysef in the position of working every night this week. to be honest, that will be the case for the next little while. if you guys end up doing the weekly single speed off road ride take some pictures and allow me to live vicariously through you. for now the only rides i get in are commutes...

i might be a tad late but congrats to chris!! glad to hear everything went well!

I love it when you accuse someone of doing something wrong while they're driving and they respond with some reason they think is totally acceptable (usually involving their convenience). This morning a pickup truck drove through the bike lane from Spadina to Huron with inches to spare between the parked cars on one side and the regular traffic on the other. Then they of course, stop and continue to block my way trying to make a right turn onto Huron. As I go around them (I could get through the peds crossing the street, unlike them) I say "nice one!" into their window. I'm going down Huron and I hear them accelerating to catch me, and they say 'I was just trying to turn right!'. Me: "That was a bike lane!" Them: "I was just trying to turn right!" Me: "You drove an entire block through the bike lane.. Spadina to Huron." *pause* Them: "I was just trying to turn right!" Obviously that's where I gave up. The two people in there were super irate about the whole thing, so it obviously wasn't going anywhere. I mean, I guess they did have a good reason to be mad.. after breaking the law they DID get told "nice one" but some dirty pinko, hippie, terrorist cyclist. :P
ps. happy ****ing monday. :D pps. on the other hand, I did see a cop speaking to someone who was parked in a bike lane this morning. The cop was parked on a side street, and it looked like he walked over to tell them not to be a dink or something. |
Technically, you ARE allowed to go into the bike lane to turn right and if more motorists knew and practiced this I bet there would be a lot less right hooks in the city.
Driving a whole block on one is another matter altogether though! |

Thanks all. Perhaps a little soon to get him on the fix scene. Both mother and baby are fine and doing great. A healthy and happy baby with all 21 appendiges. We are both thrilled and terrified at the same time. Anyway back to Womens college I go. Pics to follow when I can.
Cheers all. Chris Awesome! Maybe we can fashion him a chewie teether shaped like a 16t cog.... or maybe I will just carve one out of a dried bagel ;) |

the dotted line is where they are allowed to SHARE with others in order to turn right. The solid line is solid for a reason...it gives them something to centre their cars on so they don't scrape the tires on the sidewalk. ******s... 'but I was turning right and all these cars were ahead of us going straight'

"RIDE IN" MOVIE NIGHT! MOVIE NIGHT! MOVIE NIGHT!
http://thecia.com.au/reviews/f/image...scotsman-2.jpg "DAN! SNAP OUT OF IT! YOU WILL RIDE AGAIN!" So there has been talk about screening "The Flying Scotsman" and other bike shorts. I am hoping that you all will be available for Thurs evening the 27th 7:00 or so into the night. I have a venue: backyard on Hallam St., with a "screen", and a laptop with reasonable detached speakers/subwoofer, and HOT CHOCOLATE. All are welcome. I need you to bring, blankets, tarps for ground, lawn chairs, and your beautiful selves. Some mentioned that they might be able to get a projector (this is key!). I am able to drive and pick it up some time this week to ensure safe transpo if you wish. Please send me a pm or discuss so we can see how many can attend on Thurs and whether this is possible. Thanks! -Mark |
I'm definitely in for Thursday night. If Keith can't make it / provide a projector, I can borrow one. Great caption, btw. :)
Also: I'm goin for a ride in the Don tonight. Leaving my place around 6-ish. If anyone wants to join, PM me. |

I've ridden there plenty of times with just semi-slicks and aside from the couple of sandy climbs in the Southwest corner that worked out great.
Are you riding into the dark tonight Wes or hoping to get out of there before sundown? |

edit: http://vic.gedris.org/pics/2007-09-2...09-23-053.html :) Your kid looks like she is seriously enjoying the comfort of that trailer. We had been talking about how wonderful it would be to ride in one of those and just nap away... |
