Also, "Oh, no no no more mosquitos" ... ahh, how I love Four Tet.

PS. Ahahahaha, "Bike Lane Salmon" ... so true.

Really bummed about not being more prepared clothing-wise for the rain - my track pants, shoes and socks are still wet after spending the day on my monitors. That's what you get for not staying at home. At least I had my goretex. Work, bleh.

The best thing i've found for drying shoes is to fill them with newspaper. Usually I leave the newspaper in for a few hours and then change it out for new stuff.

+1. Fill em up...step on em to squash the water into the paper...repeat.

I can't remember his name at the moment (Paul?) but dude who works for Nadir took the end of a finger off and crushed a few more I've been informed. They sewed it back ... hope it takes.

somnambulant 10-23-07 02:17 PM

ugh. Did that happen today? I was just talking with Nadir yesterday.

shapelike 10-23-07 02:39 PM

No, last week apparently (I'm getting this second-hand from John).

Albert?

Fuzzz 10-23-07 02:43 PM

Sliced off fingers suck. I grew up with a bunch of uncles who were baggage handlers for Air Canada and not a single one of them had full sets of fingers on any hand. Lots of missing tips and such...

Albert, yes (man, I was way off but ya).

Flimflam 10-23-07 03:01 PM

Ooof on the fingers.. :|

Thanks for the tip re: newspaper, I'd heard that somewhere just recently but forgot it. The insoles dried quickly, I just had to wait longer for the uppers. Stupid cotton track pants though :p

I just want to get out there and ride, this sitting at a desk business is getting old. Blah.

iherald 10-23-07 03:19 PM

Does anyone know of a good place to get inexpensive, but good quality picture frames? I want to make a few of the really good photos from my cross-country journey into some wall art, but I'm not sure where to start gettign the frames.

I like the Umbra look, lots of mat around the photo.

There is/was? a place on Queen 2 blocks West of Bathurst....don't know if they are still there but they had pretty reasonable prices.

Still there - it's called Victor Gallery. I've been less than happy with some frames that I purchased there but I've had friends that swear by the place so I guess it's a case of YMMV.

You may also want to try Loomis and Woolfitz (sp?)

like matt says, you can buy frames and matting from woolfits on queen or loomis art supplies. I've bought some from curry's before too. what i've done with some of my nice photos in the past is just buy a large piece of "museum board" (matting) from woolfits for $7 then take it to a framing place and have them cut it to size for you which costs usually about $5-10 and you get half a dozen frames or so out of one sheet for a fraction of the price of what a photo studio would charge for one piece of mat.

i think i've said mat enough.

hey Matt - do you still have those old cranks available?

jeremywhitehorn 10-23-07 04:24 PM

oh, for anyone intersted: i seem to have successfully downloaded a copy of "the flying scotsman" if anyone wants a copy emailed to them for their viewing pleasure...

the b+t team perhaps? even nylon pants are better than track pants for rain. value village has been a value-able resource for athletic-type layers for me over the years when i couldn't afford the schmancy stuff. hell, i still can't, but i've accumulated it over the past few bike shows!
