Right now, it's got a really short 26.0 post that doesn't fit deep enough into the frame for long term milage, it will be too hard on the frame. I have a longer post, but it gets jammed about 1.5" inches down into the ST.

Bring it in and we can try honing it first. If that doesn't give the desired results we will ream it. Consider it part of the purchase price.

Also where is the best place to buy a brooks, I remeber there being a local ebay seller that had fairly good prices but I don't feel like digging through all 128 pages to find it, anyone have the link handy?

Urbane sells them, not sure that their prices are like though...

i bought both of mine from the ebay seller you mention. best part was no shipping costs; he lives a dufferin and bloor so i picked them up:

Thanks. Maybe Saturday if you are around.

I'm thinking of replacing my urbanite frame becuase for whatever reason i just can't get comfortable on it. maybe the top tube is too long, who knows. anyone got a hot tip on an 80s / early 90s road (possibly italian) frame (horizontal drops of course) in a large size? i'm thinking 62ctc / 64ctc seatube and TT anywhere from 56-60? cavernmech - any stock in this size you're itching to move?

operator 03-27-06 04:48 PM

So I picked up a vittoria rubino today. It honestly was harder to put on than my continentals. It's IMPOSSIBLE.

Pinched the tube getting the tire on, now I can hardly get it off (still can't).

Got your pm Goki.

Oh you big baby. I can put on rubinos with my pinkies.

gokiburi 03-27-06 06:52 PM

speaking about *****es.. i have the hardest dang time getting tires on to my rear wheel (drc) while getting one on the front (cxp33) is like eeeeeazy-e. hmm, time for some early 90s gangster rap...
rob, how much were the rubinos and where'd ya get em? are they red? personally, i think a red tire sans red rim looks way classier on your ride.

operator 03-27-06 07:07 PM

Yeah I got mine at urbane for $35 w/tax. each. And I got red tires.. :D
My wheels are horribly mismatched right now.
Front: black rim, campy hub, brown sidewall/black tread.
Rear: silver rim, ****mano hub, red rubinos.

Somna ... dude, you're starting to trail behind. Someone help that man out!

sr20det 03-27-06 08:48 PM

oh man. i'm in love with gmap pedometer.
I just mapped out my 10km sprints around the community and also my lake simcoe route.

eyefloater 03-27-06 09:30 PM

That is quite the snazzy little applet.

wasted weasel 03-27-06 10:04 PM

your lake simcoe route stops before you get all the way home....... is that like where you expire?
I find the way the GTA is laid out that it doesn't offer much in terms of nice twisty cycling routes. just straight lines north/south and east/west. what's the word I'm looking for 'monotomous'....?

sr20det 03-27-06 10:45 PM

oh haha I started it at my friend's house.
cause I go riding with him. haha

yea it is true. GTA is kinda flat and boring.
cept for when you are biking up to downtown. its like uphill the entire way.
you can always bike in the shoulder lane of the DVP, that'd be twisty... sorta.

btw, anyone going for the DVP ride this year?
I've never been to it, how's it like?

sr20det 03-27-06 10:51 PM

holy ballerina!
who is this SUPER SEXY MAN!?
http://robcaputi.blogspot.com/2005/0...for-heart.html
woah. I feel accomplished as a stalker.

got my algeo test to study for first.

Wasted weasel said it was boring, and yes, yes it is.
I do have some cycling routes that start from finch. I've got a bunch of maps of those.
Gimme your gmail address and i'll send them over. You can gloss over which ones you want to do.

The DVP ride, I did it last year, volunteered with the TBN and got to ride the course. It's a nice ride, nothing beats blasting down a 4 lane highway with TONS of room and not have to worry about cars at all.

Ad hoc pacelines etc.

Ill Mitch 03-27-06 11:08 PM

I've gone on the DVP ride for the last two years and it's great having the whole highway to yourself
and there's some nice long hills too.

Shiznaz 03-28-06 01:46 AM

Okay, now all I need to complete this bike are the clips and straps and new endcaps for the front wheel. So close! Thanks again Wes, you da man.

i second that. i bought a pair a few years ago and i think i broke a sweat mounting them. (insert joke here). plus they wore out really fast on the sidewalls. now i buy the cheap MEC contis.

I've been doing it since 94; my advice is to start as early as possible becuase if you wait too long you're stuck in a jam of little kids and weekend warriors on rusty hybrids who aren't used to riding in a pack. if you thought riding in traffic was dangerous...
if you get to the start by 6:30 or so this isn't a big deal. just try to hang with the doughnut-riding roadies.

jet sanchEz 03-28-06 11:32 AM

I have Rubinos in the 20s.....do they wear out fast as well? I didn't have any problems putting them on but they are pretty thin. Love 'em so far ;)

i don't know about the narrower size; i used 23s becuase they were cheap and i wanted a good quality road tire. perhaps these were not made for all weather use by heavier riders. i'm probably close to 200lbs and carry a messenger bag full of stuff. those tires are probably made for racing or fast centuries. now i usually ride at least a 28.

Aaaw on your Lake Simcoe route map you stoped before the lake and looped back :( you did'nt even dip the tire in the lake?

which sexy man are you referring to? that's me grabbing ass on the sannino and it's my buddy's blog. he's down at digital domain in LA now but promises to be back for the ride for heart. a lesson i learned: it doesn't matter how early you wake up to ride, it's how late your riding buddies stayed up the previous night boozin'.
start hitting those algeo books!!

edit: is it just at my end or is bikeforums getting fubared... tons of "failed to open page" and timing out errors.... stupid computers......

TRaffic Jammer 03-28-06 01:45 PM

indeed it's taken some big stupid pills it would seem
Goki, were you tardy in getting to Kensington yesterday (2ish), you all in black heading up off dundas, me in fullface heading onto dundas.

operator 03-28-06 03:07 PM

i wish it was. i haven't had time for a lunch ride in ages. BUT, i biked up to the market last thursday at 3pm for a haircut. everyone check out shampoo.. relaxed place & nice people. i normally wear a purple zip-up over a red mec microfiber, blue helmet, white bike. you may have spotted my ninja clone. wait, that's impossible...
i'm totally up for burritos tomorrow (wednesday) at 1pm. meet at moonbean. i'm eugene btw. i'll try to scoff a few beers.. if the weather's nice, we can eat in the park.

TRaffic Jammer 03-28-06 03:33 PM

I hate it when my ninja clone escapes.

HEY FLOATER....Three guesses as to who blew a cleat on the way home, first two don't count.:p
15 minutes before work this morning and I'm searching for the flats....damn...... almost crashed, twisting off a pedal and strap....d'oh! New shoe time!!!!

operator 03-28-06 05:04 PM

I saw your bike outside urbane unlocked.

somnambulant 03-28-06 06:50 PM

^^^bike swap.

My left cleat has been acting strange for the past few days.. requiring much more effort to twist out. Not sure if it's just wearing out or what. The (eggbeater) cleats are only like 6-8 weeks old, which seems somewhat premature... especially since I'm always clipping in and out on the right side, which seems to me like it would cause more wear.
