This might sound like a strange question but I was riding in the Beach on Tuesday night and some guy in a car yelled out "hey Dave" and I had no idea who it was. Anyone on here?

I generally don't yell at folks from cars unless I'm pacing the rider as to not seem threatening.

I also was a student of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. I even got 90% in it. The only thing I remember now of course is that if you use enough calculus you can sell anything. If you do that and make it out of carbon fiber you can sell it for even more.

I know we've all noticed the increase in the # of fixies out there, but has anyone noticed the trend of single-brake SS's out there? I got passed at a red light by a guy today on my way home on college. I assumed he was riding fixed, but when we reached the next intersection he started coasting.. oy!

and then he turned left, using the crosswalk, completely cutting off traffic which had a left turnsignal southbound on Ossington.

[RANT]That is one thing about the summer that I cannot stand, the newish riders who try so hard to ride hard and illegal like they *think* couriers do. They all disappear once the weather starts getting foul but it can be frustrating at times as they really give the rest of us a bad name.[/RANT]

Yeah, I don't think ss'ers have dibs on the "pedestrian with wheels" move of going through the crosswalk. I see it a helluva lot, typically jumping the walk signal as above. I just about smacked a cyclist today who was coasting through a crosswalk as I was making an advance left onto Jones which you typically have to do rather quickly as there are cars behind me and some tool is inevitably parked in the bike lane as he gets a coffee from coffeetime. I debated kicking his front tire as I went by, but that little rage fantasy didn't last long. At least he isn't in a car/truck/whitevan/SUV. I've occasionally inquired if the don't walk light is the wrong color red, but they don't get it... Neither do the pedestrians.... I wish I could do a good tarzan yell.....

i think cycling attracts all types, which is why i only really post here; because we all seem to be laid-back sensible people with a similar interest and similar values. is it just me or does it seem strange for a cyclist type to also be a gun type?

Bikes: too many too list

" the car driver was trippin'
on my ride I be rippin'
till the cracker cut me off
then my shoes were un-clippin'

he got up in my grill
dissin' me about my skill
told the boy to step off
or I'd call my boy Hoff

he got back in his ride
and moved over to the side
thinkin' he was gonna rile me
with his gangsta mentality

the moral of the story
is these muthafukas are our quarry
but me and my fixie crew
are just gonna roll right thru

From my upcoming new album "Get on the Sidewalk You Bike Riding Freak"
