Bikes: Various by application

Couple that with an income tax deduction for the full purchase price and it's almost fair given the health benefits and infrastructure benefits of cycling

Pretty much the same as last you were in. Since you are inquiring I shall light a fire under myself to get going on it. I have a few things to clean up this morning but should get a good start if not geterdone by days end.

Retail is a *****, an unappreciative, working you too hard *****, whenever we consider it we think of how hard our friends are working, or to the occasional incident of crackheads in your shop, or getting jacked by suppliers who don't actually know when your loot will ship, making you look bad to customers, or any number of the stories I hear from you guys. If you don't love her anymore I'm glad you're leaving her.
Thanks Sam. I think we will prolly have some kind of soiree here to celebrate and to thank all the solid, loyal customers we have had the pleasure of serving. I am certainly not bummed about the whole thing....just excited at the prospect of doing something new and challenging.

On a purely selfish note: K-Fresh! say it ain't so!?!?! Who will re-fix my cog when I've totally b!tched it again?

Ok, I'm done. Good for you man. I grew up watching my dad's life be miserable because he did something he hated. I vowed to never end up like that. Unfortunately, most of us have to spend most of our time working to have the life we want, so you'd better do something you love doing, IMHO.

I'm camping this weekend - first time ever! - but I'd like to pop in and make some offers. I'll try and keep the bulk reasonable.

In other news, for those of you counting the ticks of the clock at work today, check this out: https://clearification.com/

Dimitri Martin is genius and the first episode I think most here will find quite entertaining.

The one nice thing I suspect will happen when you get out of the bike business is each ride will be much more fun. I noticed last summer riding every day, you start to get a little burnt out. I don't know if it's the same just working on it. But getting away from the grind makes riding way more fun!

The cruisers are all used. I will have to check but I think I have a small Miele with a Nexus....it needs a little love but if it is the right size( I will measure it out later) then you can have it as is for $40

That is a bummer Keith, but it sounds like it is the right decision for you. There are so few honest shops left in Toronto, I always recommended yours when asked. Good luck in the future...

Bikes: 70s Leader Precision w/Shimano 600 (road), IRO Rob Roy (Fixed)

Back to the PSA/me pimping my new toy:

https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=13406940547 (you don't need to add me as a friend, should be viewable - youtube restrictions mean I need to edit stuff first and I'm not about to do that at work)

Other than the angle, this isn't too bad quality - I don't mind doing some footage for a PSA campaign. It'd be nice to have shorts of stuff like "How to avoid a right hook", "Get out of the door zone!" and "How to read the road ahead".

This camera is pure novelty for me right now, I'm itching to go ride just to film it.

What time are you closing Cavern tonight Mr Fresh , I might swing by after work.

Re: Ride for Karen:

I'm not doing it, but I did the Tour for Kids this year, put on by the Coast for Coast Against Cancer people (who are associated with this ride) and that was top notch.

Yeah, I was actually wondering about the Ride for Karen. I only heard about it for the first time this Summer, but I seem to keep stumbling upon more and more info regarding it lately. I knew I couldn't make it this year though as I'm out of town this weekend. I've barely touched my road bike this year anyway, although I'm sure it wouldn't bee too big of a deal to grunt my way through the ride... Then again, it's easy to say that without having to worry about bleedin' saddle sores.

Thanks K. I'll try to be there.

I was thinking about the Ride For Karen but didn't go for it. I've done a couple of rides this year (Ride for Heart, Pedal100), and would've ridden many more if it weren't for the high registration/minimum donations they require (understandable, but still tough for me to ask people for a lot of money). Not the same deal, but I'll be climbing the CN Tower again this October in probably the best shape I've been in since moving to Canada - mega eager to see how I do (new PB of 17:25 in this years spring climb).

Do you still feel like changing that in the fall? I'm pretty sure I'm not getting back on "the road", so I'll be itching to get on the "road". Know what I mean?

That's one of the main reasons I want to move on from being a bike courier. I want to do more pleasureable riding in nice countryside, maybe even some racing etc. After riding around all week I'd be pretty sick of my bike by the weekend (not to mention tired). I will miss being outside and running into friends all day... I won't miss being financially fecked every time I get injured though. I guess every job has its 'dirty dishes' and it's nice to change things once in a while.
