Not sure where you usually head south on, but the MGT is open through from Cherry Beach to the Unwin bridge again, which is an option. The north-of-lakeshore path isn't too bad for that stretch, but obviously way less scenic.

Time/place?

MGT? Miller Genuine Trail?

no idea on place because I don't know where y'alls live. Probably rolling around 7:45.

Flimflam 09-20-07 05:00 PM

Wes, want some company from Bloor/Oss? I'm around the corner from B&T so I'm in that neck of the woods. Unless you're heading south, in which case I'll stay on Queen and wait if you want....

MGT = Martin Goodman Trail (ie, waterfront trail in town basically)

somnambulant 09-20-07 05:03 PM

I like Miller Genuine Trail more.. tastes great, less filling. (not really, I'm just still in a zany mood)

We'll be heading South from here.. just tell me where to meet you at say 8:00. I'll pm you my cell # too.

Flimflam 09-20-07 05:07 PM

Queen/Oss or Queen/Shaw area for 8 then...

How about by the South gates of Trinity-Bellwoods? I'd prefer that over hanging out in front of CAMH. :P

Hey has anyone tried this magnet hack to trick street lights into turning green faster?

The costumed cross race looks like a blast!!!

Speaking of fun races... what ever happened to the idea for the east vs west main event?

shapelike 09-20-07 07:26 PM

Keith, I'm in for Sunday. What time/place do you want to meet up, and any idea when you expect to ditch my ass back in Toronto?

What tires do you use in the city? My Paddy Wagon came with Conti Ultra Sports on it, and I'll probably stick to those until they're damaged/worn out or I get tired of getting a hernia every time I have to pull the bead back onto my Sun rims. When the time comes, what should I get? I see Conti 4-seasons in front with Armadillos in back recommended around BF frequently. Is that just a fad or a legit choice? Is T.O. bad for flats? I had one my second day of riding, but I might have just been unlucky.

more like FALLS on wood. Ha!

that cross race looks like a lot of fun. i wish somebody would put on a SS MTB race in toronto (ie- in the don). nothing to official or organised, just a bunch of fun and beers after type or ride.

i use the conti ultra sports with no problems; winter, summer everything. if you're into cheap and cheerful, MEC has them for sale for something like $14. if you want to spend a little more money i really like IRC Durotours; they last a hell of a long time and have a nice enough grip to them. urbane hasn't had them in the last while, but when they do i pick them up for $25 or so. i don't like to spend too much on tires (or any part that's designed to wear out for that matter: chains, bar tape, cables, etc).

where did you pick up those GR-9s?

PS - i saw pac designs new "mini" bag (it's still around 15L) at bikes on wheels today. anyone who'd like to donate $119.99 for me to buy one, let me know.

agreed sir pyzer. that build just make me angry. in fact, i don't know what's more offensive: the up-turned handlebars or the suspension fork. oddly, if it was an old schwinn le tour or something i wouldn't mind but on a $3000 track frame....[barfs in mouth]...

I think *we* could get a regular weeknight ride going... I keep reading about the Swobo boys' hijinx on their Wednesday night rides on howtoavoidthebummerlife.com. :)

I bought them from eBay seller "riderParadise" after I gave up trying to get them locally. $22 shipped. She still has some available, I think.

nice. I love how you keep bringing that back up (no pun intended).

jeremywhitehorn 09-20-07 08:57 PM

you know that pun was intended...

i would love a regular ride with hijinks; all i need now is a rideable MTB....

Whats wrong with the KHS? I thought you were going to make it an urban ss mtb.

jeremywhitehorn 09-20-07 09:10 PM

nothing wrong with it really other than it's way too small. i'd like to build a proper SS MTB and i can't seem to get that one working (ie - it seems the der hanger is stripped so i can't get a tensioner in there etc. i dunno, maybe i'll tinker with it next time i get a day off).

BTW - early congrats on the child-birthing and such. FWIW - refering to the wife as "shamu" in any context will resuly in weeks of sleeping on the hinterland of the sofa.

jeremywhitehorn 09-20-07 09:14 PM

BTW - wes, thank you for pointing me to that swobo page; i just read the best euphamism i've ever read for moustache: "the **** broom". wow, how offensive. i like these guys already...
