Sorry I missed sprints dudes. I was at the Hives show (well not that I could have ridden down there yet anyway). Damn it was awesome. Yes it is currently 5am. I just woke up and can't sleep for some reason. Ugh. Can't sleep. Clown will eat me.

Not sure if you got these yet, but there was a post yesterday on toronto craigslist for a pair at the same price (no cleats, though):https://toronto.craigslist.org/bik/439451723.html

Someone post pics from sprints.

On a strongly related note, I just started watching "Shoot 'Em Up" (https://www.apple.com/trailers/newlin...mup/large.html). In the first 5 minutes of the movie someone has been stabbed to death with a carrot and the the phrase "**** you, ya ****in' ****ers" has been uttered ... so, it's pretty much going to be a winner.

Now if you're excuse me, I have to go beat the living crap out of myself again (ahh, 'cross practice).

Haha, nice job 'Foo!

I did see the SLs on CL, but I figure for the same price + shipping + I can wait, the new + getting new cleats would be better, plus, I'd have to ride to Whitby to pickup and I'm feeling lazy this week. Thanks for the pointer

Someone in the summer posted a map route to York. I liked it and now can find it. Is there a way to do a search within the thread to pinpoint something, without having to search all 1234 pages (cool). Also what was the name of that good Kosher Caf on campus?

The sprints were awesome. loved the venue and company!

Man.. Stuart O'Grady is a machine! He's doing a race next week.. that means he was only off for like 3 months after that nasty crash in the Tour.

"The 34-year-old suffered a broken shoulder, fractured eight ribs, a collarbone, three vertebrae and also punctured a lung, resulting in a blood clot on the brain in the accident that ended his Tour and threatened his career. "

Go Stuey!

Thanks for coming out lastnight everyone! Things turned out perfect. I was a little worried about the numbers too Wes, I had the same thought about keeping it somewhat small-ish. But at the same time, I met a bunch of new people too so it was a great balance. That's what I was hoping for and I'd like to keep shooting for.

And congrats to Nerdsgirth for yet another glorious victroy! For those of you unable to attend this week - hopefully next or at least one in the future! - Mark has the current time to beat at 12.98 for the 200m. Can't quite recall if that was rolling or standing start. Anyone? Bueller?

I haven't had a chance to upload my pics yet - they're only from my celly so I'm not expecting anything that clear or great - but if anyone here does and uploads them to flickr, do you mind tagging them with "stormthegates" and "devilstriprollers"? This will help feed eyecandy to the site once it's up and running.

On that note, for those of you who I hadn't told yet, the idea I had for the site was to put up a blog of sorts and populate it with local events and stuff that don't necessarily get covered on the other sites. Like when there's a city race coming up or some other cool event like the ones that pop up around the Bike Film Festival that no one had any idea about. The blog can pull in streams from flickr of pics from the events and any videos that get posted could be pulled in as well. We'll see where it grows from there. And maybe it will be usefull for us next year during the worlds when there's tons of things going on.

Good times indeed! A great first outing and things went nice and smooth. I am already looking forward to next week with the anticipation of a healed body and new helmet....not that this is in any way an excuse for the rookie beating I took at the hands of Wes
The only suggestion I would make for on-coming nights is to perhaps have everyone racing do a flying 200 so we have some barometer as to everyones skill/speed level. We can keep these stats and upgrade them as folks become faster. Also gives 2 different standings...one for individual TT and one for match sprints.
Thanks to Ryan, Toby and Will for the organization and concept...should keep getting better.

Yeah, that was fun. Thanks guys!

So what was the magic ratio? I'd like to go higher... but with my short-dropout conversion I don't really feel like re-sizing the chain every week

Bikes: Menonite black urbanite, probably enough spare parts to make anther one.

i don't know but i'd say more ratios were higher than mine. who was it that said we should have a "battle of the 18-tooth cogs."? i'd compete in that one. i forget the guy's name (will?) who laid down a massive sprint on a steel cruiser with a chainguard. full marks for that mon friere.

So my gf just bought a road bike (thanks for your help with it Keith) and now I'm trying to make a list of what she needs accessories wise.

Here's what I have so far:

multi-tool
tire levers
extra tubes
pump
seat bag

Any other suggestions?

If the pump, for whatever reason, doesn't do presta, make sure to carry the wee adaptor from schrader, this can be handy when wanting to use a gas station air pump, too.

I'd advise lights, especially now that the skies are getting a bit grim and night falls faster - MEC for a PB Superflash on the back and I don't have a "good" headlight recommendation, mine aren't superb in terms of battery usage/lighting/price (I have a Schwinn 2xC halogen and PB 5000x which takes 4 AAs but no blink mode = juice sucker).

Last but not least: take humour, fun and enjoyment to the bike each time!

Having a photocopy of your OHIP card (or other ID) in your seatbag isn't a bad idea either. Y'never know! (plus Flimflam's suggestion of some ttc fare and a little cash)

What sort of seatbag do you use? I've been looking around for one, because I feel really vulnerable riding without a flat kit, but I can't seem to find one that fits my needs. Ideally, I'd like one that is easily (and quickly) attachable/detachable, so I can take it with me when I lock up.

'Course, I gotta get all the other stuff that goes inside, too: multi-tool, 15mm wrench, extra tube, CO2, etc.
