I was at the Community Bicycle Network headquarters on Queen for a while this evening. They were doing some filming for an infomercial. I may be helping them with some grant writing in the future in exchange for a trailer. Man they have a lot of tools/resources etc. woot woot.

I took a nice long frozen ride around the city, along the Beltline and into the Don today. Toes were a little frozen after being out for a couple hours, but it was nice to go out and stretch the ol' legs.

So the last week of unloading stuff from the shop is upon me. I have tons of tools available for sale this week if anyone here is wanting to outfit their home shop. I still have a boatload of wheels as well as all manner of brake pads, cables etc. I will be around the shop all this week. As my old friend Monty Hall used to say.."Lets Make A Deal!"

I'll try and swing by to see if there's anything I can grab there, Keith.
I missed it, but my daughter went skating for the first time last night, with the BoB skates on - I'm gonna try to get proper skates on her, can't wait to get out there with her (not that I can skate well, but it's all good fun
)
I mustered up a ride over to a buddies place in the east end to watch the hockey (pffft, damn Leafs) and back, took it insanely easy coming back - wind was harsh and didn't see the point in killing myself.
oh yeah, and cleaned my bike all nice and proper (so much so I could read the embossed writing on my cassette!) and of course it got filthy the instant it got on the road. Stupid wetness
Another ride over to a friends place shortly, Queen all the way though so should be entertaining
Be safe out there, GL with the CX rides, all
Anyone go skating on a regular basis?

last year was my first time on figure skates since grade school. i tried hockey skates a few years prior, but i kept trying to push off/stop with toe picks... that didn't exist. i prefer having toe picks: i'm no hockey player. i was quite hesitant heading out on the rink, but after the first circuit i felt pretty comfortable and i managed not to fall once. i guess it's just like riding a bike!
$20 for a pair of skates in good condition at Value Village is well worth while, even if i only go once a season for the next three years. i prefer harbourfront to nathan phillips... grenadier pond seems dubious, but that's the only non-man made place downtown that i can think of.
i'm sure you'd figure it out easily enough, rob. just get a chair, and knee pads over your snowsuit and you'll be good to go
ps. anyone want to settle a debate between brad and i about wearing helmets while skating recreationally? he says yay, i say nay. i know there's a risk, especially if you're inexperienced, but reeaaallly...

Another way to ask the question is: "would you rather have a dork, or a ****** for a girlfriend?"

I can barely skate, operator, so don't feel bad - come learn!
I've got a hockey/skating helmet, but I've not worn it on the ice yet - I wear a toque and that's about it.
Weirdness this afternoon, I just happen to remember about cavernmechs' post above re: tools as I'm approaching the store, and think about it for a sec and there was the man himself. Down the road (Queen) a bit east, I'm sure I saw shapelike too, but having never met him in person I'm not sure (on bike ~1pm?).
Anyway, nice day out there - I took a detour home and went on the spit a bit and down Unwin and the trail - windy, but a nice recreational run.
