"Zach Gammage (HB cycling club) was one of the unfortunate cyclists who clipped the barriers while attempting to go over them. Gammage however was unique in the fact that he somehow managed to rip the front of his shorts pretty badly in the process and was forced to retire from the race."

also: WOOL FTW!

See CX does look like fun, but on the other hand staying clean and warm also appeals...

But there was free hot chocolate, chili, burgers and sausages! That's enough to warm you right up! Just make sure you leave it for AFTER you race.

I spoke with Keith today and he's out of the shop at noon on Friday. I was thinking we could congregate at Betty's at 240 King Street East to feed Keith beers and grub (and indulge ourselves) on Friday afternoon. I was thinking later afternoonish say around 6:00 for a start time. I know it's mass day but it'll probably go for a while or we could arrange for an alternate time if it suits people best.

Also caught up on some Heroes yesterday, what a show...

ps.. bikey bike stuff.
Might go up the Woodbine hill tonight, I'm getting a bit bored of Bloor and the mess around Bay/Avenue still so may take Queens Quay/Lakeshore across.
PS, thanks for the warning Matt, too bad I don't have fenders on this thing yet.. I carry my waterproof jacket all the time now though

If I remember correctly they did use a carbon Record crankset w/a cross-appropriate ring on it. Something about that setup caused a lot of headaches and he said he wouldn't be doing it again any time soon.

Personally, I wouldn't want them. They'd just be one more thing to get hung up on, catch something on the edge of the course, etc.
Once you were on the bike and racing it wasn't cold, or at least you didn't have time to notice the cold. I only noticed my feet feeling cold once during the entire race, and that was in a 5 second break between trying not to wash out in switch-back turns. Oh, and there was a bit of "my ass just got soaked w/ frigid mud water" clenching in the first 10 seconds of the race. On the last two laps I was actually starting to get too warm and would have ditched my arm warmers had that not certainly sent me into the underbrush.

I dreamt the other night about how to mount my homebrew lights onto my spacebar (been mulling this over for a good while now, too) it featured some vivid Canadian Tire scenery and specific angle-section metal glimpses for me to investigate

just back from the food handler's training, so this might be long. the training was good. i can't believe it's not manditory, and i can't believe i haven't taken it already. also, a messenger passed me (on the right but that's besides the point) only to nearly get hit twice by the same car within seconds. he followed the vehicle around the corner and seem to be addressing the issue, but i was still going at speed and was already passed. yikes.
i have a small head, so now i'm curious about comparing the two. is that a bad thing? you're a skate date.
metal. side. down.
him for sure. i'm too tough to wear pink. except for my toptube protector, but i didn't pick it. oh well. i don't feel bad about not saying hello then.

On the walz cap topic, don't forget it in your back pocket when you do laundry. Mine almost fits my son now. Anyone with a really small head out there...
Friday is good for me, and thanks as always to Keith for the great prices. Went in looking for a mtb wheel. 2 wheels, clipless pedals, lockring wrench, 3t bar and inline lever later I was out of coin and Keith can get some Johnny Walker Blue tonight.
Chocolate chip sour creme banana bread is sexy. Especially with a cinnamon sugar crust.

Not quite sure what a "woman with facilities" is, but I'd like to think it's a positive term:
"Man, did you see how hot she was? She's got facilities!"
