aMull, I vote for the grey/white tyres to match your Fuji's paint scheme.

Thanks for the recommendations on Prince of Darkness from Ideal. I don't hate coffee right now

Bialetti (stovetop), so I guess that'd be espresso. Now that I think about it, someone gave me a used espresso machine that I left at my sister's place. Now that I've found coffee that doesn't taste like dirt, I might have to retrieve it...

Last year I saw a number of people DNF from their race because of "screw" flats. Idea: a dab from a hot glue gun/tube of super glue on the head of each screw to cover up sharp metal edges.

I don't know which of those people were using Mr. Tuffy strips when they got flats but maybe the screws were too far to the sides of the tire for the strips to protect the tube.

What's a gross? Norco sells boxes of 50 so any bike shop should do you.

I was thinking that a couple of layers of duct tape inside the tube would negate and screw-punctures....or is that too ghetto of a solution? I am going to give it a shot, I have some old 23mm tires that are completely worn out anyways....

Here is a little primer on tire building.

what about one of the tuffy tire liners taped to the inside of the tire?

do you guys ever see anyone at the ice races with a ultra-wide, low pressure tire, something that the Pugsley would accomidate? i wonder how it would fare traction-wise against the studded tires?

We are experimenting with some 29er tires with Stans No-Tubes. Rolling resistance becomes an issue and it is usually high pressure narrow tires that win. Tuffy liners work pretty well.

I got a call from my buddy concerned that his GF had seen me hit at Queen/Carlaw yesterday - wasn't me, but evidently some poor guy got hit (I don't know details)

Everyone here OK, anyone know what might've happened?

Yes. I ran 26X1.95 kendas (read: cheap and heavy) and while the traction was great, I could only keep them rolling for a few laps. In the semi finals, where the lap count went up I got dropped badly by the end.

That said, I'll be running the same tires again this year on lighter wheels as I don't feel like building an entire new setup and it's fun either way.
