The thing I don't get about this miele is that it has a 52cm seat tube but a lofty 56+cm top tube?!!
What frame geometry is this? I read "sport touring" but this is an unusual toptube length, no?

Drop handlebars: 41 cm aluminum Cinelli criterium bars Stem: 120mm aluminum Cinelli Reason for selling: not going to track often enough, the bike deserves more use. This custom frame and fork were built in Toronto by Mike Mulholland who passed away in 2006. It’s hard to find info about the Cyclops company and its bikes because the company was a very small family-run frame building company. It is a pretty nice frame and the lugs are really beefy, I guess it would have been a sprinting frame? Maybe constructed of Columbus Max tubing?
edit: I walked into Dollarama and they have bike bells for....a buck. Totally wicked PLUS I heard that the cops were blitzing cyclists and handing out tickets for no bells, etc...

I heard it was the Bloor viaduct but I didn't see it....regardless, they will be doing it in the city now that spring is here. I was told that the ticket was $110 and we all know the city is broke so that is a lot of added incentive for the cops...

That's about the same touring geometry as my Gardin conversion (passed down to me), whose fit I've been perpetually battling over the past few years. My road bike fits me like a glove (a 55 cm virtual TT Lemond, which has fairly relaxed geometry for a road bike, but much more aggressive than a touring bike), but the 52 cm ST on the Gardin means that I have to have lots of seatpost extension to get high enough above the BB to avoid knee pain**. Due to the slack angles, this puts me even further back from the cockpit; so even with a 90mm stem, I end up feeling a bit too stretched out. This only became an issue when I switched to drop bars for a more comfortable commute, but I can't go back to flat bars.
Just something to keep in mind -- hopefully your fit will go better.

well, i don't really see the visual ugliness of too much seat post... i think that roadie just had seat-post envy as u were clearly exposing more length than he ever could.
With those slack angles, your seatpost would be moving back further from the bottom bracket but this could be corrected with moving the saddle a bit more forward on the post, no?
This build is going to be a ghetto conglomerate of extreme proportions, as I just want it to be the single speed city crawler, but with all this top tube, i dont' think im ever going to reach the drops!
I compared it to my fuji track, 73.5 degree STA/HTA, 54cm seat tube and 56cm top tube, and this is longer.
My Bianchi brava has 53cm/53cm square frame geometry and by fluke the 11.5cm stem I put on there has me in the drops all day, although I may be too far forward on the bottom bracket to be efficiently producing power. Currently the nose of the saddle sits right over the bb, and this is the fit im trying to duplicate on the fuji and if possible, on the miele.
Operator, I have witnessed you crank like you have the legs of an Olympian, how far back should nose of saddle be over the BB?
Later this weekend I will bust out the camera and snap off the build play-by-play and post it up here.

I think the saddle setback is usually found by aligning your knee over the pedal spindle when the arm is horizontal. The longer the femur, the further back the saddle.
Funny coincidence for some time I had been riding a bit forward over the BB. Just yesterday I pushed the saddle back (and lowered it a bit to keep the same leg extension). Can't say if I feel a difference yet.

i find fore-aft to be really important and is now how i start fitting my bike, big difference in comfort and efficiency when that's done right
Hrm, will a 27" tire fit on a 700c rim? I think this Elite thing is a 27" rim...
