For those who may have been interested - not that I've found anyone yet - I believe we'll be canceling the sprints this week due to lack of interest... due to the cold. If anyone has any strong feelings about racing tonight - keeping in mind we need a critical mass of at least 4 people - please let me know in the next hour :)
Ps. - not that you need me to ride your bike straight fast! Pps - Given the lack of weather cooperation lately - for sprints anyways - we're thinking of instead doing a weekly ride on Wednesday nights. Thoughts? |
I'm out this week. going to dad's choir sing song. Group rides +++

Jebus, the guy that runs High Park Cycles is nuts: he's hoarding sweet steel and only letting it go at ridonculous prices. $600 for a late 80's Miele, my ass... |
Liar!!!! He is the one of the most successful and celebrated independent bicycle stores in the country!!!!

I've heard good things about the CXP22s but a lot of this depends on the hub and how the whole thing is laced together. I don't think bicyclewheels.com ships to Canada either. What bike are these wheels going on? A fixie?
USPS++ Group ride would be kickass, I'd be up for sprints/whatever, I just don't get down there for much before 9 usually. Tour of town then head to $coffeeshop type thang? Same times? |
I just spent a few hours researching an iPod solution for my sister who has behind-the-ear hearing aids (with a t-coil). If anyone out there has a similar setup or can give me some educated responses on the subject I'd love to pick your brain on a few things, namely:
iPod + hearing aids being used by someone driving a a car ... go t-coil stereo hooks and lose any ambient hearing or is there a car kit that won't result in a ton of interference w/ the hearing aids? She doesn't have a tape deck in the car so it'd have to be a radio setup. Anyway, PM me if you can offer some advice. Edit: FIXIES! |

yeah we were thinking coffee shop tour. Or at least start and/or finish at one. And perhaps different every week. As always, we're open to suggestions. It seems to be the general consensus that it's in no way too cold to ride, but definitely too cold to stand around. And unfortunately, there's a lot of that at the sprints. When you combine that with the relatively unmaintained surface down there - that keeps losing more and more width with every snow fall - I think it may be a better idea to switch it up for a bit until we get more consistent weather. Then who knows, maybe we alternate events.

Also: is this an xmas gift? You didn't mention that. :) |
My sister's had severe hearing loss since she was a kid so it's nothing new. I sent her an email to find out if she relies on her hearing at all when she's driving.
Highlight of last night was forum postings where kids were figuring out how to hack their Cochlear implants so they could route their iPods through them. :) |
That's so sci-fi.. :P

does anyone have any good training audio/video for trainers? I'm starting to get ready for the winter riding season (i.e. staring at the washing machine)

For an easy spin, I watch the hockey game.. sometimes doing intervals between whistles or on the power play. |

For a really hard workout, I use a variety of spinervals dvds.. if you can get motivated enough by coach troy, they can really kick your butt. I've not tried any of those fancy "look at the terrain going by" ones.

It's possible to rip a video to an ipod http://mandeldev.co.uk/EN/index.html. I haven't used this suite before, but if your ipod handles video, it may be an option. I think Foo's suggestion of getting a good song track may be better, though.

30 minutes of 49-16 fixed on rollers. GOOD TIMES!
|
I needs me some rollers. Trainer = death by boredom. Although I have downloaded about 23948 hours of stuff to watch while I ride, which will help.
|
rollers= short quick hills. For me at least. I don't know how you guys do it.
|
Any of you guys use a polar HRM or any HRM for training? Suggestions on brands/models? Computer download capability++
