I had my kids out with me in the bike trailer behind my Paddywagon after coming home from Port Dover last night. 70 pounds of kid+the trailer pulled by a fixed gear=great work out for dad. We went to the park and almost got caught in that torrential downpour. We got into our garage just as it came thunderin' down.

CWMC YEAH! What a great way to spend a working day.
Selected pics + vids to come. |

Went to the island today. Absolutely amazing. Since I just got into riding fixed this was my first opportunity to see so many fixed gears (or nice bikes in general) in one place. My first trip to the island, too! What a great day. Definitely going back tomorrow.
Oh, ps- any blue jays fans here? I'm going to the 1:00pm game before the island. And I've got an extra ticket! PM me. |
CMCW was lots of fun!
I was in a white polo w/ a grey under the weather bag and then a new racing striped up REload, and a green univega fixed gear, but I spent most of the day walking due to injury. |
i'm thinking of heading over to the island now to catch the sprints and maybe the skid competition now - anyone else heading there? if i'm not mistaken, it's at hanlan's point?

I just got back, it was fun and wet and the clouds were beautiful all afternoon. I guess I will start up a photo thread in the main forum. I would still be there but I hadda help a friend move.

Heh, weird, I was only there for about an hour and a half and most of that was during the rain. Plus, I don't know everyone from the forums, I have met about 10 people now. I was on my all-black road bike with the fruity pink handlebar tape. Someone handed me a route for a huge ride on Tuesday and I think I will be able to make it, we shall see.
Dunno what happened to my photobucket pics, I started a thread in the main forum though and they are still working, although my photography skills bite. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs082.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs083.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs084.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs121.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs081.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs085.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs086.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs090.jpg |

I know of one at 7:30 at Yonge/Queens Quay? That's the flyer I got handed - but it seems a little odd for a 'bye' ride, it's going out to the spit? Something tells me this is just some other random ride. |
Yesterday was fun. Pics are uploading ...

mike did you guys miss the rain on the way out? i was riding to the gate as the ferry was just pulling away from the dock and in the time i was waiting for the next one the skies just opened up and let fly the fury.
i've got some (blurry) pics as well; i'll upload the decent ones later... |

It dumped on us just as the gates were coming down on the ferry. By the time we had run to the nearest overhang we were already drenched so we just rode home from there. It was actually fun once we came to terms with things. I remember turning from Spadina on King and having my whole foot plow through a puddle. High Park had currents. ;)

Today's the start of "Safe Cycling Week". aka. police blitz. Make sure to be aware of police 'traps' set up all over the city. I saw one at the T-intersection of College & Borden this morning -- I had just gone through on a yellow.. lucky! Make sure you use lights at night, mount a bell and watch out at stop signs and traffic lights.

BUT I need to buy a bell today. I've been putting it off for too long! Any idea where I can grab a cheap "flick" bell, like the Incred-I-Bell? |
Yeah, I better get a bell too. Thanks for the heads up, I heard about this last week but forgot about it until now.
And Flimflam, yeah, the ride I mentioned is the same one you got a flyer from. I spoke to a few out-of-towners and they were all going to check it out but I don't know if it is the "official" ride, it was the guy from the Bicycle Film Fest that was organizing it. |
What an awesome weekend that was! I got some great pics and the rain was pretty insane.
Morgan and I doing a beer run, right after I shot this I had to run over to save the beer. http://i26.tinypic.com/33m0469.jpg The winner of the courier race http://i28.tinypic.com/2h37dvn.jpg Luckiest shot ever http://i26.tinypic.com/zkrixc.jpg Dan Halen Lives! http://i30.tinypic.com/16ia5c0.jpg Easily the best AND worst picture of the weekend (fingers crossed I don't get banned!) http://i27.tinypic.com/hvxpa9.jpg |
Sweet Jet, yeah I thought I recognised the guy. Nice pics there guys - some great action shots you have there Mike from the start, and a beautiful 'moody' picture of the skyline too.
Bells for cheap can be had at MEC (King/Peter) or Canadian Tire for a classic ring-ring silver bell. I've only ever got the cheap ones. I saw a motorbike and another officer had pulled one guy over near Augusta this morning on College. The lady cop eyed me/my bike pretty hard but didn't say anything - I've no bell on my bike, but I have one strapped to the strap on my bag, perhaps she saw that or didn't notice. I generally adhere well enough to avoid problems - we'll see though ;) Thanks for the heads up. Edit: AIEEEEEEE seeing Tofu again in that state... :twitchy: :p Nice pics Wil :) |
Oh God No!
