yeah, make sure the tube isn't pinched anywhere and that the tire is seated evenly around the rim.. I usually pump a road tire up to about 50psi or so, check to make sure the 'line' on the sidewall is even around the circumference and if it looks good keep inflating up to about 100-115 (depending on the bike/tire/etc).

ps. Cycle Therapy were selling these little black clip-together Park tire levers for cheap a little while back that are handy for throwing in the flat-repair kit. Still got any of those Mike?

i love that he's going along just fine and dandy except for not having a hat, scarf or gloves! if that's what folks picture as winter riding, no wonder they don't understand.

hah.. I was just scrolling through the Deathwish Record 2007 top 10 lists (I see you in there, exhibit-x! ) and Nate from Converge/Doomriders/etc has his website listed as 2girls1cup DOT com (done so that nobody doesn't accidentally click that... I don't want to be responsible for someone clawing their own eyes out).

didn't even notice that, i guess i just assume'd he would put something like converge, he is by far the best poster on deathtalk.

last time i saw converge their merch guy had picked up a stripper a few cities back and she was traveling with the band (well, him), she was definitely insane and nate would constantly do **** to her but she was too crazy to understand he was being an *******.

My preferred tyre levers are the ones I got in a Supercycle "repair kit" - metal for a start, and they just work way better than the plastic trace ones I have (though I carry both sets in my wedge bag) - just gotta be mindful of the pinchy pinchy, but I've not had a prob.

Track wheelset n00b question (yay they got delivered today, w00t):

When fastening the sprocket onto the hub, if the clearance between the teeth and spokes even "looks" too close, does that generally mean I need spacers? How does that all work? Would a pic help? I don't have any tools to properly crank it on there with the lockring anyway, so I'm able to putz about with it still. I'm also going to consult Sheldon as I'm clueless.

I prefer plastic levers, I'm always a little worried with the metal ones that they'll hurt my rim. Likely not an issue, but it's always my concern.

What cog on what hub? Shouldn't need to use spacers or anything weirdo like that. Pic?

woop * 2.

1) Finished 7th out of 27 in the 'cross race today AND on the lead lap. Everyone just raced in one big group so I'm pretty happy with that placing since there was everyone from top Elite riders down. I also scored a $1 preme (loonie in an envelope) and a chocolate cupcake hand-up. Good times! Lots of good fights to be had. I used all I had to catch this one guy, was about 20' behind him and went over the bars in the deep sand on the beach. d'oh! Oh well, I made a really sketchy move and passed him in an off-camber section. Michelin Mud2's ftw!

2) I found a partner in crime for the singlespeed world championships, so it looks like I'll be headed to sunny NorCal at the end of the Summer... yeeee-effing-haw!

now to go collapse into a bath.

Happy New Year EVERYONE!!!!

OMG Christine and I were talking last night and due to ppl not really keen on going to the Philippines, our vacation might involve ....

a: ROME, Venice, Milan, as C has an Aunt in Rome , and stay with her.. or one of her friends' places or some such deal-io

b: being in Paris the week the Tour finishes there.

Then she says ..'you know if you save your bike money you can take it too Italy or France and buy a bike there. OH GOOD GOD!!!!
