Shop guys: Does anyone know who the canadian distributor for rock'n'roll lube is? QBP lists it, but it's restricted and I have no idea who carries it.

Good ride in the Don tonight. I did a couple sketchy downhill bits that I haven't managed before and got a chance to try out some of the new trails that have been cut recently.

anyone up for a don ride tomorrow?
|
well, Owen at Sweet Pete's gave me a hook up on a front Dura Ace LF 36H track hub for $60 this afternoon, so I'm gonna take a crack at building my own wheel... Need to decide what rim to use, tho. The rear is a DRC, though I was really impressed by the Open Pro I just got on my road bike.
Any shops in the city still have Mavic MA3s? They ought to be cheaper than open pros, but are welded...

Interesting you find this on your bike. I think that each combination of gears may be optimized by a slightly different setup. I have a Campy front ring, and an EAI cog. My chainline is as good as I can get it without changing my BB to a Phil. It's about 1.5mm off. I put an Izumi V chain on and it makes the most horrible sounding racket I've ever heard on a bike. It's lubricated, and there are no tight links, but it pops occasionally (loudly) and generally sounds industrial. I put my Miche chain on, which has seen almost no miles, and it is quieter than my Campy Record drivetrain on either of my road bikes. Almost totally silent, even when I have it on a workstand at eye level.

Took the capo out for about 35km tonight. It seems like the chain is getting quieter... It really only chatters when I hammer out of the saddle (or in) right now... currently using white lightening for lube - maybe a liquid lube would make it quiet down some more?
I like Phil products, but for heaven's sake, don't use Phil Tenacious Oil on your chain. It gets thrown off in warm conditions in sticky strings all over everything. |
Pyze,
Well that looks like trouble. :) |
ps anyone who wants to ride tomorrow (well, i guess it would be today), gimmie a call at six 4 seven, two too free fhive 7 ate won
:D |
****
I'm still convinced rock'n'roll is the best chain lube in the universe. I like how the chain stays really clean after application and riding. |
i use rock n roll on my road bike, it's great

looks fugly outside, anyone still up for teh don?
the miele is murdering my back. I have some fiddling to do, but I have a suspicion that long cannondale stem is the culprit. anyone have a short threadless stem, 5-10 degree drop? have random bits and bobs to trade, including a longer cannondale stem. and since im broke, any unused cross levers from fixed conversions can come too. I had so many bar positions on the fixed, i have to put brakes all over this **** like christmas ornaments to come near that freedom. /morningrant /dir grocerystore milk cream /end |

oh god. i just realised. |
**** the rain
not sure how fun the don will be when its super muddy. so no ride today me thinks. **** off rain, it is the summer, nobody likes you, go home, back to england.... stupid rain i will have a look in my stem box for a short threadless... what kinda length you looking for? But i fear i only have longer ones (100-120) |
i like the speed skaters on the board walk, the dudes in the spandex and the big wheeled blades... i saw like 3 of them drafting the other day, it was really funny.... for some reason i had a huge urge to toss a stick in front of them. Sadly i couldnt find a stick.

I need pretty short, probably 70-80ish? I like to be curled a little more when im in the drops, I feel I get a little more control at the peak of my stroke that way, and it seems to be easier on my back than the half-stretch I have going on at the moment =|. and those bladers remind me too much of middle-aged carbon riders, with the spandex uniforms and oakleys and everything? total stickbait. :thumb: |
