you should have texted me. i ended up going on a bike date to the harbourfront and toronto island with my girlfriend anyways. bbq'd corn on the cob from the rasta dudes at harbourfront center is possibly one of the best things in the world.

I've been meaning to get out to Bicycle Specialities to get an idea on how much it would cost to paint my Razesa, they must have quite the showroom. I heard they still do chroming, does anyone know if this is true?

I'm not sure about the chroming but they do nice paintjobs but they aren't cheap. I've heard that Mayfair Metals is good for chroming. They are right at Carlaw and Eastern. I have the phone number if you want it just pm me. Bike Specialities quoted me $400ish to paint my Lejeune. I decided I'd settle for a $70 powdercoat. If you're willing to fork out the dough I'm sure it would look awesome though.

That sounds like a nice day! Ryan and I went out there. You gotta check it out before Mike retires. They have so much cool stuff there!

Just curious did you leave that bike as received or did you end up changing the bar end shifters to brifters?

Also

My little guy threw his chain today i took a look & the BB cup had loosened up and came completely off.I fixed it up & he’s now rolling but, crappy tire kids bikes FTL.

Wifes dad took us to Medieval Times tonight. Bizarre. Cabaret for meat eaters. Unfortunatly while the better half was clapping her wedding band shattered and we spent the next 30 minutes searching for 5 diamonds. Found 3 and the pieces of the ring. Crappo.

I didn't like the bar-end shifters so I popped some old 105 downtube shifters on there, it is fine but I am now used to STI shifters from my Ciocc and Roubaix so I don't shift too often with the Razesa.

400$ is pretty steep for a paint job, I guess I will maybe give it a rattle-can job and see how it goes. I painted my old Miele with spray paint and I did a half-assed job and it still lasted for a couple of years. Powder-coating is nice but the embossing details on the seat stays on my Ciocc were filled in as powder-coating is thicker than paint. The Razesa has a lot of embossed details which I would hate to see marred.

My brother (Kaibot on the forums) got his Benotto painted at Bicycle Specialties a while back, they also made some nice new decals for it too, the paint is a bit thin though.

Op, feel free to also watch "Grave of the Fireflys" if you want to know what it feels like to have a cartoon make you cry. Good times ... *1000 yard stare*

Wow, I've had pictures of that bike on my hard drive for years as an example of a classic frame updated with new components. It is what I always wanted to do with my Ciocc. He must have upped the photos to ClassicRendezvous or something, I cannot recall where I found it.

How does it ride?

I love this bike, I posted it in a bunch places in the last few years. The paint is thin, but a good paint job on a lugged frame has to be thin, I just think it could have used another coat of clear. The decals are really nice, and embossed too!

The ride is really nice, geometry is a bit long, but I like it. A few parts have been changed out, it now has a:
Look HSC 3 1" carbon fork, Chris King headset, Look carbo stem, FSA SLK Sl carbon crank, Look Keo carbon pedals, Michelin Prorace tires and I think thats about it.

Danhalen 06-24-07 10:58 AM

Damn that Benotto is nice!

I feel like such a wuss but I can't make tomorrow at 6. I rode back hard from Mississauga today tradin' pulls with a roadie. I am spent, and can't see making it up and out tomorrow that early. What a glorious day it was today. I'm sorry for posting about the destruction and then backin out, but I am noodle legged. Please don;t ahte me

operator 06-24-07 06:31 PM

Right. The explosion thing is happening tomorrow. 6 am yah? Where? I_brad?

? ? ?

nerdsgirth 06-24-07 08:46 PM

Ride of destruction tomorrow morn. I got your address pm brad and plan on heading over. Cummon Jammer, you can do it!

24hr MTB relay was mental as usual. Not a bad 12 out of 127 in the 10person team div. Our final lap was done by a buddy with a single speed surly that got a flat tire 1/3 of the way through the 17km lap. For some reason he couldn't change it so he rode it out *eek* and even across the mud swamp board bridge at the end.

Nice seeing Sonamb and cavmech out there.

shapelike 06-24-07 09:09 PM

Op,

I need(want) to buy a selection of cycling caps. Should I get them from PBK or eBay or ??? Who has the best overall selection/prices? I'm thinking Pro Tour teams, not Walz, Pace, etc.

tovi 06-24-07 09:59 PM

(I guess this counts as shameless self-promotion b/c I'm working there, but...)

La Bicicletta has a bunch of the ProTour ones, plus Campy ones (old skool classique), etc. Although I'm sure other shops around town can also help. I think they're about $10, but don't quote me on that.

pyze-guy 06-24-07 10:03 PM

Hmm, my witty response was deleted. Took over 3 years to get slapped on the wrist. Damn, falling even further behind Op in total posts. Seems mods come in here after all. Wonder who complained...

Damn it's going to be tough getting up for riding to Brads for 6. I won't wimp out like some (cough)TJ(cough) hehe. Don't worry. I'll represent the mtb posse with pride.
