nice, do you use a hollow front axle (with a QR?) or did you have to switch to a solid axle with hex nuts for mounting the legs?

I'm waiting on a CETMA rack I ordered a week ago, I'm thinking a heavily loaded rack might bend the thin QR skewer...?

Just using a QR, so far.

I have one of those, but the bolts wont fit around my GT's handlebars
I'll have to pick up some longer bolts. have you tried it out? it seems like it holds ALOT.

thats not by choice.
I only had a 31.8 stem and risers, or no stem and drops (not so comfy on a pursuit frame.)
this was a parts bin special build.

I much prefer my bullhorns.

nah, im just kidding. i think that bike looks wicked + its comfortable as hell. im from the "its just a bike" school of thought rather than one of those folks who flips out at every tarck bike on the road. as long as someone is riding + enjoying it, it is awesome.

Just put something else (tape.. a sticker..) over it like Rennick did for his IRO. Obviously it's a lot easier to match black to black than red to red, but I'm sure you'll figure something out. There are some annoying decals under the clearcoat of my Bianchi, too.

ps. wow, it's POURING. I think it's time to take my 'well loved' Hutchinson Pirhana off the back of my MTB and go back to something knobbier if I want to ride in the Don this week.

cavit8 08-05-08 06:16 PM

That's kind of weird, the Cannondale 2008 pics on their site have nary a sign of downtube stickers etc...

Just get a roll of red fun-fur and wrape that downtube. It'll help avoid speed-traps as it will absorb the radar beams.

kergin 08-05-08 06:39 PM

mine has the same sticker - you stop noticing it after you've ridden the bike for about 3 min - its that good.

LULZ - I re-built my OCR2-fixie with that ENO wheel I had kicking around. This thing is a monster - 6 inches of seatpost with a Brooks saddle, compact road geometry, super-short seat stays, and a positive rise stem. I'm thinking its time for a rack - mebbe some fenders? w/e - the bike is a total ****-kicker, and Giant just blows...

They've creatively positioned the bike so you don't see the downtube sticker. You'll also notice the velospace pictures of the bikes are all the same.

man :(

hah, just had a feeling it'd be someone on here.

And thanks dude, bike is rad once I figured out how to get in and out of clips (tightening them made it alot easier surprisingly).

I actually just taped over the IronHorse logo on my rig, I find tastefully cutting it and tapering it helped blend it into the other relatively cool designs on the frame. Slash I may have been high and found tape again.

Im running some faaat tirez now, 2.60, all knobbly and whatnot. I feel like a kid who found a monster truck in his driveway. Down side = I have to redish the wheel about a millimeter to get half a millimeter clearance for the back wheel.

This may end hilariously badly.

Yep, I just got in from a blast out to Yonge & Bloor and back... rode out there around 5:30/45 and came back around 8:15, much wetter out after that 2 hour stop off :) Streetcar tracks on College collect an assload of water meaning spray comes from both oncoming and same-direction traffic... yay. Glad I made the call to remount the fenders before I went out as I'd been out to the Angry Immigrant Mall earlier without even a sign of dark cloud in the sky. Boo-urns to a craptacular weather season so far this summer.

Most likely. I picked it up at Urbane today stock except for a 17T cog on the fixed side so unless they were selling two today that'd have been mine. Kinda wishing I'd paid more attention to who else was there now, I was so stoked to be grabbing my first good bicycle that I don't think I paid attention to much else ;)

That would be it. Be worried though, I saw Operator hit a street post whiler test riding it.

Just kidding.

freecycle 08-05-08 08:25 PM

It looked more like a streetCAR, but I was drunk and using the cog as a shuriken...

(I wasnt even in the vicinity)

Hahaha, oh man, you have no idea how much I love a good high five on the street... The "ride-by" high five is second ONLY to the "unsuspecting cab hailer" high five.

Lol... I built your bike.

haha

freecycle 08-05-08 09:36 PM

so I just finished truing the rear wheel (as true as it gets with its bent spocks) and now I have realised that my frame is precisely, and I mean within 0.5 mm, large enough to accomodate a 2.6 knobbly tire.

the little rubber strings that come with new tires? yeah those cause it to stick ever so slightly as they bend when the tire rotates.

im going to ride it for a little bit, but its being replaced with a 2.5, soontimes.
