I say let's do both!

Thanks so much to all of you who've volunteered to help me out with my research (especially without confirming that I'm not doing some sort of crazy electroshock torture thing first!). I'm not sure if I'll need all of you, but I have certain exclusion criteria (i.e. musicianship) and am usually only in the lab during work hours, so I'll do first come first serve based on those factors. I'll get back to all of you in the next week or two. Woo.

Darn, all those years learning 'Stairway to Heaven' come back to haunt me. Now I can't be in a study, and I suck at guitar.

I'm currently in the upper Ottawa Valley visiting family for a few days. I went for a cool flight in a friend's plane last night before getting ripping drunk at a great outdoor concert. I've found I can do a lap of the town on my track bike (~10km) without having to deal with a single car most of the time. Pure heaven. I even took a blast down some bad dirt logging roads today - kind of a challenge at speed on a fixed gear.

Flimflam 08-04-08 09:14 PM

Wasn't sure if you recognised me there kergin ;) My buddy/brother-in-law and his girlfriend and I were out, once he let go in that traffic I just had that "race the streetcar" urge ;)

How was the donut? Sorry I flopped on it but booze/incidental happenings/booze happens.

I'm definitely in for the Charlie ride, keep us posted.

kergin 08-04-08 09:21 PM

didn't go! Rob was out after you, and I'm not one to go in with Roadie scum alone :P Maybe next weekend?

i'm sure this has been asked here before but a question to you tech guys: is there a simple way to convert files in itunes to windows media files for upload to a non ipod media player?

~Stuart~ 08-04-08 09:59 PM

never met charlie but i would be up for a ride for him.

only if everyone would be ok with that (not sure if you wanna keep it to just his friends or not)

If the itunes files are bought through the itunes music store with DRM, then you have to strip the DRM using some software - jhymn, I think. Otherwise, you can simply point Windows Media Player (assuming version 11) to listen to folders, like the itunes music folder. Now, if you don't let itunes sort your music under its own directory, then you would have to point media player to the folders where you do store your music: C:\music, for example.

http://www.ventanafilms.com/pageFILM14.html see what a real film maker did with my footage.

I'm pretty sure I'd be down for a Charlie ride.

Pfff, no fender eyelets. Otherwise perfect for Feb. riding in Toronto.

Charlie ride, this Sunday is no good for me, and after missing the ride last year I would hate to miss this year as well.

Yeaaa, headset installed tomorrow, should have the new ride ready to go Wednesday. Woop woop.

Easily. I'll even let you have my rockshox Jett.

somnambulant 08-05-08 11:41 AM

re:Charlie Ride: I'm also away a whole bunch this month including this coming Saturday/Sunday. Keith will also be away this weekend as we're heading up to Buckwallow for an O-Cup XC race. I'm away Aug 17-25 in California as well.

TRaffic Jammer 08-05-08 11:43 AM

hahahahaha gwad can you imagine... what a lark that would be. oh if only to have the bucks for such tomfoolery.

kylehutton 08-05-08 11:46 AM

That frame ain't worth 1200. No way in hell.

Went to Ziggy's today - checked out some cross bikes - fell in love with the Rocky Mountain CXR. Still not convinced that its a better value than a Kona JTS, and I'm leery of the WH-R550 wheels on it; low-spoke wheels + cyclocross == fail.

I can't speak for everybody, but I'm sure it would be fine if people that didn't directly know Charlie come out for the ride.

Yar, I'm sure Charlie would love to make a few new friends :)

Herbie_Glick 08-05-08 01:37 PM

I talked with Benway and we are going to set the ride up for the end of the month. We are going to get flyers going this week and go from there. I know it is a little late but some of the people that really should be there are tied up this month ect. I'll have a little more sorted this eve.

If any of you guys came across a guy on a new orange masi that couldn't get his feet into toe clips this afternoon at about 5:30, nice meeting you ;)

somnambulant 08-05-08 04:29 PM

I just put a Wald 157 on my Urbanite. Good times. Pictures later.

Tempted to put CX tires back on my Planet-X and go for a rip in the rain/slop later.

nice, do you use a hollow front axle (with a QR?) or did you have to switch to a solid axle with hex nuts for mounting the legs?

I'm waiting on a CETMA rack I ordered a week ago, I'm thinking a heavily loaded rack might bend the thin QR skewer...?
