Cool story Stuart, it is like a clip from a movie.

tuz 05-08-08 10:53 AM

Wow cool story indeed thanks for sharing :)

I've got drop bars btw. 42cm, 26.0 dia, ergo bends (don't like them), dual groove.

So that explains why you were wearing a motocross helmet at last Wednesdays group ride...;)

I once had a gig for a Levi photo shoot when I was 16. Mom wouldn't let me go bc I had a math exam the next day. haha "all I wanted was a soda and mom wouldn't give it to me!"

Sounds pretty rad. BLUE STEEL!

Sounds like a movie thing too, good stuff man - good luck and keep it real, yo!

I went for a gap on College today that a car also decided to go for as I pulled alongside - driver had a nice wide eyed expression on her as I pulled by her passenger side, face about 2" from her window grinning like I'd just scored, I later apologized - just to keep them calm, it was probably my fault (I went to the left side of a car turning south onto University, which was fine - but all of a sudden as I was passing her, this lady thought her Civic could do the same reducing a 4ft gap to maybe 1.25ft - it was toight :p) Probably the closest call I've had in a long time.

Second Dr. Benway sighting in two days, ooowwweeeeeoooo.

shapelike 05-08-08 11:24 AM

I'll see if I can track down the shoe ad I modeled for back in the day. It's certainly not a "Blue Steel" photo by any stretch of the imagination, but it was a full-pager that ran in Now/Eye for awhile that's good for a few laughs.

There was also a "Your Kids are High on E!" terror cover story in Macleans around 2000. The strung out kid on the cover looked EXACTLY like me (and I right in the thick of that scene at the time). I literally had my mom call and ask if it was me, then my dad call and do the same. Good times ...

Modeling can potentially make you some seriously nice cake.... 'specially being fabulous.

shapelike 05-08-08 11:39 AM

I guess you could also talk to Keith for some male modeling tips ... you know, since he was one of Nike's premiere male models back in the day.

*ducks*

I might stop by Jetfuel for a quickie on my way over, if you're interested. *nudge nudge, wink wink*

Flimflam 05-08-08 01:12 PM

Haha... I just tuned into the whole ********* thing on the main forum, nice sig, TJ :D

Some choice shots of K there, too ;)

I hope to be able to leave/be at Pottery for 5. No time for a little nudge nudge wink wink, know what I mean.

Don ride was fun. Actually, check that. The first half when I wanted to faint every 5 minutes wasn't gads of fun per say, but the second half of the ride was fun. Finally manning up and riding that bit on the river trail under the train tracks (as a train passed overhead) was definitely fun, as was making it up the dirt path next to the Exorcist stairs at Riverdale park (go tree stump-pulling gear).

Come on immune system, you've had a glimpse of the world that awaits you ... just be done with this stupid cold so we can get back out there again and enjoy spring!

It was fun. And the 3 coolest looking bikes on the trails.

shapelike 05-08-08 05:38 PM

Fair enough, and it certainly was an eclectic bunch!

kergin 05-08-08 05:44 PM

Well this sucks - my work/school schedule leaves me basically no time to ride for 4 months, except for my commute and late night rides. Oh well, when in Rexdale, pickup cheap Indian food for dinner!

Also, seriously considering a u-lock holster, so I can quickly swing at the buggers that cut me off on Eglinton & Weston rd.

shapelike 05-08-08 06:08 PM

Can anyone recommend a PHP (5) book that doesn't completely suck? I'm a novice programmer in general.

I_bRAD 05-08-08 06:27 PM

So how was the Don? I was supposed to go, then the person I was going with thought it would be too wet still, so we put it off. D'oh.

PHP & MySQL Web Development

Its a decent book that combines both topics. Ultimately, you'll end up writing LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) or WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP) applications, so its handy to have a MySQL reference.

O'reilly books are great, but Deitel are not.

There were a few puddles and some tacky spots? I looked at my shins and there were about 10 drops of mud per leg. The off-camber sections were definitely sketchier than usual, but other than that it was fine ... no sections of full-on soup like earlier on in the season.
