Oh, I don't think so... I can find out but I don't think any of the guys organizing it would care either way... i think they just want people to come out, ride bikes and have fun.

Hrm, the psychological test is interesting, is he going to play the insanity card? For what it is worth, he always came off as completely freakin' insane to me....but I'm no doctor. 32flavs, any input on Igor's mental state of being? ;)

Sounds good. I just checked the weather and as per the rest of the summer there's a chance of rain, but if the weather holds I'd like to come out and ride.

Just got word today that my uncle, age 66 (Mom's younger sister's husband) died this morning from lung cancer. Time between diagnosis and death = 15 days.

Don't smoke, kids.

freecycle 08-01-08 11:12 AM

condolences krusty, did you know him well?

Flimflam 08-01-08 11:16 AM

15 days, holy crap... Sorry to hear that, krusty... that's brutal. My condolences. :(

Thanks. Yes, they lived in Ottawa and we were only about 2 hrs away. He had 4 daughters, about the same ages as my brothers and I, so we did see him frequently. One of his daughters is the same age as me (45), and she has been a grandmother for 6 years now!

Wicked - I'll see you at my checkpoint, then... And yeah, no restrictions whatsoever on what you ride.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, krusty. My condolences to your family.

My Dad's a lifetime smoker and had a stroke in mid-May, another lovely side effect of smoking. Again, don't smoke kids.

Your honour, my clients is simply a victim of his collection compulsion. How else can you explain all the bikes he kept in storage rather than selling them as any good business man would. He needs help, not punishment.

freecycle 08-01-08 11:27 AM

Fifteen days is lucky. Lucky being relative of course. Most of my relatives lasted months, which is far worse.

edit: sorry, that was out of line.

exhibitx 08-01-08 11:48 AM

wow.

freecycle 08-01-08 11:50 AM

Anyone have a 1,1/8" rigid 26" fork they arent using? Something solid and threadless? Also taking any non-canadian tire/wally world susp. forks if you have, coils are cool as long as they are stiff. V compatible is a must.

I just blew the seals on this "grind" fork that came with the bike, and it squeaks like an iron gate, and is mushier than an ancient tuna sandwich.

I will trade you things, like an alexrims/shimano rear road wheel, or brakes/levers, repairs/rebuilds, etc.

shapelike 08-01-08 11:53 AM

Terrible news, Krusty. Sorry to hear that.

</10 months and counting without a cigarette ...>

freecycle 08-01-08 11:57 AM

^^^ good for you shapez, I never get around to quitting =(. Makes me a ****e racer.

Listen to them kids, or youll wheeze during sex and racing like I do.

32flavours 08-01-08 12:01 PM

Condolences, Krusty.

32flavours 08-01-08 12:01 PM

Ditto.. my Mom a lifetime smoker and is in excellent physical health according to her Doc, but had a 'mini-stroke' about 5 years ago. No apparent effects... she got off VERY lucky.

You know, I am staying in NorCAL right now..
The family here is subscribed to Comcast (notoriously known for Bittorrent packet resets)
When I got here about 2 weeks ago and all the bit torrent sites were being blocked (even through proxies!)
I was about to write some firewall rules to drop all RESET packets...
But ever since this court trial thing it seem that BT works great!
Huzzah!

I call BS. The MTO rules are *very* clear. They require an electric engine, peddling access at all times, and a top speed of 32kmh. Easy breezy.

What's screwing things up is "enterpeneurs" selling gas motors for bikes and claiming they're power-assisted rather than mopeds. Thanks for this. I'm sending Andrea Horwath a letter right now.

That and the fuzz don't know which end is up if it doesn't have four wheels.

Flimflam 08-01-08 01:52 PM

Interesting re: the FCC, hopefully it'll at least help to set a precedent here if it ever comes to surface.

I read this in the Sun yesterday(?) and it pissed me off, moreso his intonations and way he wrote it:
