You could get one at taphong in Chinatown but I'd recommend SasMart in Kengsinton market just north of the park on Augusta.
1.50 espresso isn't likely to be had, one of the least expensive quality places is I Deal coffee's is $2.00 or so. What part of town are you in? We might be able to suggest something closer to you. |

i always found that sasmart place to be overly pricey - certainly doesn't look it from the outside. the faema store at davenport and ossington usually has good deals on the aluminum ones (they had a box of the 3 cup ones there a while ago for something like 6 bucks each...); i got a 6 cup for $18 - and you can get an espresso with all the old italian men in their adjoining cafe...
And that Sicilian cafe ar Montrose and College has some cheap espressos as well. |
Does anyone have one of those yoga for cyclists dvds? I'm planning my winter training schedule and think I might do mon, wed, fri cycling on the trainer and tues and thurs yoga.

Also, re coffee stuff: the Green Beanery at Bathurst/Bloor has got some terrible customer service. No business from me. I've heard they've sold refurb stuff as new from a friend "in the industry". Just a warning. Nobody's mentioned them yet, but since I was reminded when I saw Honest Ed's mentioned. |
Propane refill on your bike? That's pretty hardcore

/\ if that was a response to me, im going to have to ask for it in stupid talk, so i can understand :D
seems like i got a bit of a discussion going... but really, i'm sure some of you will be in the audience and i know what tough critics we all are... so it sounds like using a cell would be kosher, and that makes the script details a bit easier. anyone with a mess bag though? i know i could use my backpack, but i think my character would go for the faster option. OMG filming starts next week! |
Icing on the cake for slicing my leg open: the big, pasty-white rectangle around the cut caused by having that area shaved in order to Dermabond/tape it shut. :P
|
Who thinks Wes should shave then? Come on Racer Man!

Okay so Thurs might be out for me. Seems I am once again an employee (they truely are desperate)of the Toronto School Bored, educating young minds and forming the future leaders of our country. Or, to be more honest, keeping the little darlings from stealing your bikes. Yes I am back in the saddle as a teacher as of Friday. Nice school of 200 students, lots of safe school kids (gang kids there for their or others safety) MID, DD, autistic, ODD etc. and so on. The 'problem/slow' kids as they would have been know as when us old people were in school. Going to be a fun commute to Jane and Eglington everyday. Right now it's going to be Bloor to church/Davenport, across to St. Clair, up Weston to Eg and Jane and then into the flats. About 16-17km.

Mines extra stinky and i use it every day pretty much, otherwise I'd loan it to you. Try PMng Sam or calling under the weather. Maybe they have a demo/second or something they could loan you.
oh and i would have stopped when i saw you the other day, but i had been hanging out there for a few minutes and needed to get riding to warm up. if there's room for one more tomorrow maybe i'll come by, unless things are getting started really late? cheers! |

I don't mean this as a joke, but with the 'safe school kids', do you have to restrict access to knives and the like?
I actually like working with these kids. They can be a real pain in the ass and be a big emational drain, but the rewards are great and no too sound too after school specially, making a difference to even one of them makes it worth while. And considering I was at 1 of the 3 worst schools in T.O. last year, it won't be too big a worry this year. But I do keep my bike locked to my desk. |
Zippered: Please don't play the role of a messenger with a sparkly, shiny new bag. You *want* a smelly, old, beatup, used one! :) Unfortunately I don't have one to loan... especially not one that fits that aesthetic. :)
|
Pyze-guys' doing the good work. ^^Wes is right^^ You need an old thrashed patched bag with things hangin' off it. Don't forget the clip for your waybills, and the duct tape reinforced phone/radio holder on the shoulder strap so it's right next to your mouth so you can talk/ride.

More and more things are starting to die on my urbanite.. it's getting harder not to try and justify a new commuter purchase/build. Front hub is super pitted, headset needs to be replaced, seatpost is seized in the frame, etc.
Considering a 650b build.. :S |
totally! that's why i'd rather borrow someone's rather than a demo. even though i just got myself a new mini kryptonite for quick lock-ups i'm going to use my well-worn new york lock from 2001.
good point on the clip, tj, i hadn't thought of that. i was *really* hoping to have a (duct tape reinforced lol) radio-on-my-strap too, but i don't know if that's going to be feasible. originally the script called for me to remove a quick-release saddle to use as a weapon, but i told the director/writer there was no way that wouldn't be locked down in real life. technically someone just needs a bike to be a courier and it's just a stereotype that makes people think messengers have one "aethestic", but if my name is going on this thing i want it done right! |
A seatpost as a weapon? With your u-lock right there? C'mon! :)
|
exaaaactly! although there was a scripting reason for it, (i'll try not to spoil the plot) i made a more sensible suggestion.
ah all these years of oggling, i mean, studying are paying off :P |
Hey Zipped - I have a black Push mes bag, no decals that looks used and a hip pouch as well. Yours for the borrow of the filming. PM me for details.
|
zip, I have my orange "Gregory" mess bag I don't use right now (still nursing a tear in my rotator cuff) - more than welcome to borrow it, PM me.
|
perfect. and a holster even!
PM sent :D |
..and a U-Lock key hanging from your wrist
|
Anyone got a cheapo crankset and ring they want to sell?
I'm gonna single speed out my FUJI hybrid for winter. I've been looking at the geometry and 71 HT and 73 ST could still be a somewhat fun ride with a set of bullhorns |
